"Candy" is the super sweet single that is the pleasure principle for dance floors, girl nights, and good times perfect for the post Valentine's Day season. Infused with pop harmonies and head bop beats, "Candy" is a delectable edition to the "strut your stuff" playlist on a TGIF night. "I would say it's super-pop...the idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls...I love Grimes. And I love the Bangles. And I love the Go-Go's. I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke" says Johansson.
After announcing the making of the all-girl band The Singles on Live with Kelly and Michael, Johansson is no stranger to music making alongside her prolific acting career in film and theatre. Nominated for an Oscar next to Adele for "Best Original Song", Johansson has worked with the likes of David Bowie, Pete Yorn, and released an album of Tom Waits covers. Other band members include psychedelic soul singer Holly Miranda: a trifecta of piano, trumpet, and guitar skills known for Brooklyn band "Jealous Girlfriends". Bluesy singer Kendra Morris, known for debut album Banshee along with multiple trailer and TV features adds husky vocals similar to Johansson. Last but not least, Antique pop and motorcyclist lover Julia Haltigan has performed at The Kennedy Center and graced the stage with likes of Norah Jones, Judy Collins, and many others along with releasing My Green Heart and Magneto EP.
