SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Noise Pop Festival, the Bay Area's premiere indie music and arts festival, is excited to announce the full program lineup for Noise Pop Headquarters at Swedish American Hall, presented by Ticketfly. For detailed information on the 23rd annual festival February 20 - March 1, or to purchase tickets, visit www.NoisePop.com/2015. General music and film badges are sold out; however, Super Fan badges and tickets are still available.
Two additional performances have also just been announced at Rickshaw Stop: Lemaitre and Niteppl will play Saturday, February 28; and Deafheaven, Boss-de-Nage, Mortal Bodies, and Cloak will perform at the Closing Night Party on Sunday, March 1. Noise Pop will also bring Holly Herndon to play The Lab on March 1. Tickets to each of these shows will go on sale tomorrow, Friday, February 13 at noon PST.
The ten-day festival of music, film and art will mark the grand reopening of the Swedish American Hall as a new live music venue and event space. Noise Pop will bring concerts and cultural programming to the space year-round, and they will kick off as Noise Pop Festival HQ on February 20 with the film series reception and poster show featuring amazing works from local artist Lil Tuffy and more from around the country. It's also a great chance to meet visiting directors and toast the 16th annual Noise Pop Film Series.
The Song Exploder podcast will be bringing two special live recordings, presented by MailChimp, to Noise Pop HQ. How To Dress Well and Toro y Moi will each have a song of theirs dissected live, telling the story about how that particular tune was made. The National Poster Retrospecticus will be bringing their traveling show to the venue, which will include over 350 hand-printed posters from 100 different artists across the country. There are also happy hour events on the schedule that are free and open to the public, which will be a great time for San Francisco residents to come and explore Noise Pop's new home at the Swedish American Hall. And stay tuned for the announcement of the special guest who will be performing at the Opening Night Party on February 23.
A stellar lineup of film screenings, each with their own unique musical component, is on tap for the Swedish, beginning with a live scoring of Fritz Lang's sci-fi epic Metropolis by Chrome Canyon. Lance Bangs: Immortal Volume will feature a sneak preview of Bangs' new Screaming Females documentary along with a rare selection of music videos, shorts, concert footage and more, with Bangs in attendance. San Francisco musician and multimedia artist Christopher Willits will perform a live score of his visual album Opening. And I've Rambled This Country Both Early and Late will feature a screening of rare footage from the Alan Lomax Archive with an intro and Q&A by the Alan Lomax Archive curator.
The entertaining lineup of Swedish American Hall performances will continue with an array of impressive music acts including the following: the Orchid Tapes Showcase featuring Foxes in Fiction and Owen Pallet, who will be performing solo; folk singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim; Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow; Grouper, the solo project of Liz Harris; and more. Plus, Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World and Thao Nguyen of Thao & The Get Down Stay Down will step away from their full bands to give attendees two great intimate performances.
