Charles
Bradley will release his
anticipated second album Victim of Love April 2 on Daptone Records imprint Dunham Records. The album and lead single Strictly
Reserved for You find
him taking a turn away from the heartaches and pain of 2011 debut album No
Time For Dreaming, and
toward the promise of hope and love. Strictly Reserved for You sees Bradley
grabbing his girl, jumping in a car and hitting the highway for a romantic
getaway. Stream the track now: http://soundcloud.com/daptone-records/charles-bradley-strictly
Bradley
has also announced an extensive North American spring tour with His
Extraordinaires, kicking
off April 12 in Annapolis, MD. The tour includes a headline show at famed New
York City venue the Apollo Theater,
the same place where he saw his lifelong hero James Brown for the first time as
a teenager. See all dates—including an appearance at the Savannah Music
Festival in March, and European festival dates in June—below. Tickets
will go on sale Friday, February 1 in most cities.
While
most artists appreciate their audiences, few artists love their fans as much and as sincerely as
the 64-year old Screaming Eagle of Soul. Bradley has received wide praise for
his honest, heartfelt live performances and can often be seen literally
embracing his audience. In 2012, he was featured on the cover of Pollstar—the concert Industrys leading
business trade publication—and was named Road Warrior of the Year at the inaugural A2IM Libera Awards (the
award celebrates the independent label band/artist that was the most
fan-engaged/worked hardest at their job that year).
By
now, Bradleys remarkable, against-all-odds rise has been well documented: how
he transcended a bleak life on the streets and struggled through a series of
ill-fitting jobs before finally being discovered by Daptone's Gabriel Roth. The
year following the release of No Time For Dreaming was one triumph after another: a stunning
performance at South By Southwest
that earned unanimous raves and the cover of SXSWorld; similarly-gripping appearances at Bonnaroo,
Austin City Limits, Newport Folk Festival and Outside Lands
(to name just a few); television performances and profiles on The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno, BBCs
Later... with Jools Holland, Last Call with Carson Daly and VH1 News; and spots on Year-End Best Lists from Rolling
Stone, SPIN, GQ, Paste
and more.
Charles
Bradley has emerged from the heartache of No Time For Dreaming stronger and more confident, overflowing
with love to share. This new album is Charles Bradley, victim of love --
gratefully returning the joy and love that has been given to him.
