Beach House has premiered a new video for Bloom's standout second track, "Wild" (see Pitchfork November 14). The intense and compelling clip was directed by filmmaker Johan Renck (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Madonna, The Knife). You can watch the video here.
Beach House is currently in Europe on the tail end of the "Frightened Eyes" tour, with a show tonight, November 14 in Munich, DE at Feierwerk. The trek will come to a close on November 20 in Paris, FR at Le Trianon. The band will resume touring in late December and into January 2013, with a series of festival and club dates in Australia, Japan and South Korea. The trek begins on December 30 in Lorne, AU at The Falls Music & Arts Festival and ends on January 23 in Seoul, KR at Interpark Art Center. Additionally, on March 23-24, 2013, the band will return to London, UK for two shows at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. You can find a current tour schedule below.
In further exciting news, Beach House will grace the cover of issue 71 of The Big Takeover. You can grab a sneak peak of the cover here.
Beach House's Bloom is now available in the US and Canada on CD, double-LP, and digital formats from Sub Pop Records. The album is also available in the following territories: in Europe from Bella Union, in Mexico from Arts and Crafts, and in Australia from Mistletone. In the US, Bloom debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and spent four weeks at #1 on the CMJ Top 200 chart. Bloom, led by the singles, “Myth” and “Lazuli” was recorded in late 2011 at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, TX and mixed at Electric Lady in NYC. Bloom was co-produced by Beach House and Chris Coady.
What people are saying about Bloom:
“The two-piece dream-pop band wraps listeners in lush, expansive down comforters of sound." - Entertainment Weekly [30 Artists to Watch in 2012]
“The music dissolves girl groups, minimalist patterns, rock anthems, drones and lullabies into a thoughtful stasis. Instead of seeking to create peaks and valleys, Beach House songs thicken without building up; they find equipoise and hold it." - New York Times [Critics’ Choice]
“The songwriting is tighter, yet the atmosphere feels more diffuse; the lyrics are more straightforward, yet they're somehow suggestive of larger things. By just about every measure, Bloom's wingspan is fuller than anything Beach House have done before." - Pitchfork [9.1 “Best New Music”]
“Bloom's songs are just as rich and meticulously crafted, and meant to be heard as a whole.” - NPR
“Bloom is a masterstroke, an utter gamechanger…Bloom should be to the year 2012 what Loveless was to 1991, or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was to 2002, or Funeral was to 2004: a landmark release.” - PopMatters [10/10]
