Co-written and produced by Dakota Blue. The single is part of a larger body of work the duo are currently shopping to record labels. "Subterranean World" serves as a taste of the full album's creative direction. “Dakota Blue and I have been working in the shadows for some time now, developing a new musical language in his Pasadena studio; a neo-futuristic art rock record built on primal rhythms, eastern synths, fretless wanderings and LA noir poetry. We wrote and recorded “Subterranean World” in our first session together.”  The artists bonded over a shared love for Dali's Car and Japan--all things Mick Karn--whose fretless improvisations have long inspired Dakota's approach to the bass. They also cite Bête Noire by Bryan Ferry and The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk as inspirations for their work together, among many others. The video was directed by filmmaker Redamo Rosa, who conceptualized a film where the camera moves through a series of bizarre vignettes while the performers remain perfectly still. The concept remained in gestation for years while he searched for the right song for the project. “I had this idea to have a camera move through dreams, almost like walking through a museum or diorama of a reality, only this reality is slightly bent. I didn't want there to be any reason behind the visuals, but I wanted the audience to feel disoriented by what they’re seeing. Often, we find deep meaning in inexplicable dreams.  I approached Blone Noble with the idea, and he played “Subterranean World” for me. The song captured that feeling I was chasing—it played like narration to a nightmare and felt like it was about the darkest parts of humanity.” The release comes on the heels of Dominator EP released by Mystic Transfers in May. Produced by James Mathew Seven and feat. Kontravoid and Tony Price remixes, Dominator EP signals a departure from Blone Noble's previous Bowie-Eno inspired material; a collection of New Beat / Industrial / Italo style bangers fit for the midnight dance floor. "Subterranean World" signals yet another creative departure -- the prolific artist appears to be swimming further out into uncharted waters with each release. Blone Noble has been on the road since May promoting Dominator EP. Two decades later, the band is celebrating its enduring legacy with the Writer's Block 20th Anniversary Tour, bringing songs from the landmark album alongside additional career-spanning favorites to Mexico and the United States this fall.   Released August 14, 2006, Writer's Block earned widespread critical acclaim, including Pitchfork's coveted Best New Music designation, while The Guardian called the album “a delight, from start to finish.” At its center was “Young Folks,” featuring Victoria Bergsman, whose unmistakable whistled melody became one of the era's defining sounds and has remained a fixture of film, television, advertising and popular culture ever since.   The album's reach extended well beyond the indie world. Kanye West rapped over “Young Folks” for his 2007 mixtape Can't Tell Me Nothing; Drake sampled “Let's Call It Off” for his own track of the same name; and Azealia Banks later rapped over “The Chills,” transforming it into “The Chill$.” “Young Folks” also became part of the soundtrack to the era through appearances in Gossip Girl and How I Met Your Mother, while its instantly recognizable whistle continues to introduce the song to new generations of listeners.   Following Peter Bjorn and John's celebrated return to North American stages in 2025 after a six-year absence, the trio will return this October for a deeper celebration of the album's 20th anniversary. Last night, LA-based band Dogstar (guitarist/vocalist Bret Domrose, drummer Robert Mailhouse and bassist Keanu Reeves), performed their single “Joy,” off  their new album, All In Now, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Tickets and VIP for these dates are on sale here.   The band recently released their Nick Launay (IDLES, Amyl and the Sniffers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) produced album, All In Now, via their own label Dillon Street Records. “The album really sets up the energy at the heart of this album and the fun that we’ve always had playing together,” Robert Mailhouse shares. “We couldn’t fucking wait,” Keanu Reeves says about Dogstar’s collective desire to get right back to the studio. “Personally, I loved it all. For me, the attitude was like, ‘let's work hard and let’s GO.’” “It felt like our last album was our ticket into a party,” says Bret Domrose. “And now we’ve shown up to the party – the three of us.” All In Now is available on all formats here. Dogstar is a brotherhood – a group of three men with multiple talents who combined, have created a sound and energy that is greater than the sum of its parts. After being dormant for 20 years, the California-based trio reunited in 2023 to release their celebrated album, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, which SPIN called “honest and inspired,” and “fully reflects these three guys, the stories of their lives over the last three decades, and exactly who they are.” Their new album pushes them further, with a unified and self-assured album forged by their time on the road, touring both in America and around the world, playing everywhere from sweaty rock clubs to giant festivals. Mailhouse remembers, “Just seeing the smiles on people’s faces and feeling their joy on a musical level. Playing some outdoor festivals, and when it starts to rain, seeing nobody leaving.” “Those festivals in Europe really made a big, positive impact on us,” adds Reeves. “We loved playing to people in the afternoon who didn’t come to see Dogstar but connected with what we were doing. And that connected with us.” Bret continued, “You never know if people are going to show up, are they going to stay, are they going to listen? It meant a lot that people not only stayed but got into songs that they mostly had never heard before.” Dogstar credits legendary producer Nick Launay — who has worked with artists from Midnight Oil to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds to Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Amyl and the Sniffers — with the fully realized sound and the energy of All In Now. As Domrose recalls, “Our management put Nick’s name on a list of possible producers.” “And we all thought it was a typo. Like this guy will never work with us,” Mailhouse adds with a laugh. For Nick Launay, “Working with Bret, Robert, and Keanu was extremely fun because it brought things back to why people form bands and make music. These three friends wrote some killer songs and wanted to push some boundaries in the studio. It’s all passion and no BS. For me, it’s always a treat working with such capable musicians because the sky’s the limit when experimenting, and that’s exactly what we did, while smiling all the way.” All In Now reflects their commitment to put their all into the project, both on-stage and in the studio. As Nick Launay puts it, “I love how Bret’s voice and melodies soar above the solid grooves on this album. There’s something very honest about it, which I guess is why it’s called All in Now.
