GESAFFELSTEIN UNLEASHES NEW ALBUM 'GAMMA'

GESAFFELSTEIN UNLEASHES NEW ALBUM GAMMA

LISTEN HERE

GAMMA Official Album Artwork

Today, French techno producer Gesaffelstein releases his brand-new third studio album GAMMA – listen HERE. Though GAMMA retains Gesaffelstein’s raw, industrial sound, it finds him finally giving the mask a voice through the talented artist and vocalist Yan Wagner. The album is available on Standard vinyl at all physical retailers as well as on an exclusive D2C Luxury 180g vinyl. Fans can purchase the physical album HERE. Full tracklist below.

With GAMMA comes a new era for Gesaffelstein. At less than an hour runtime, the album is a dense and radical artistic proposition. Nostalgia is still a very central theme, but on a very different level. With GAMMA, Gesaffelstein and his machines bring past familiar sounds while propelling the listener into the future. The visuals and imagery for the album have been spearheaded by Jordan Hemingway (FKA Twigs, Post Malone, Gucci, Acne Studios) in close collaboration with Mike Levy. Watch the official music video for “Hard dreams” here.

It was recently announced that Gesaffelstein will be heading back to the desert this year for Coachella. Gesaffelstein will be headlining Saturday’s Outdoor Stage. Previously having performed at the festival in 2019, Gesaffelstein’s full performance was recently made available to watch here.

With over 1 Billion combined streams worldwide, Gesaffelstein has collaborated with artists such as YE, The Weeknd, Pharrell, KayCyy, and most recently Lil Nas X’s “J CHRIST”. In 2015, Gesaffelstein composed the soundtrack to Alice Winocour’s “Maryland”, which was nominated at Cannes Film Festival. His music has also been featured on commercials for some of the biggest and most-renowned brands in the world including Calvin Klein, YSL, BMW, Giorgio Armani, Dior.

LA garage rock band The Drives brazenly cut through the motions on "Overeducated"

LA GARAGE ROCK BAND THE DRIVES

BRAZENLY CUT THROUGH THE MOTIONS ON “OVEREDUCATED” — STREAM

NEW SINGLE RELEASED TODAY VIA UNDERCURRENT

NEXT SINGLE FROM FORTHCOMING SECOND EP

“The Drives have always stayed true to their name as a rock band with plenty of… well, you know.”

“…full of emotion and nostalgia that’s delivered with casual indifference.”

“A chill rock sound and bass riff reminiscent of Pixies…”

Out today, Los Angeles’ The Drives release their newest single “Overeducated” — available now via UnderCurrent. The garage rock band has been known since inception for the cinematic quality of their vulnerable delivery. The Drives never make their listeners extrapolate metaphors from their music. Instead, they bluntly air out their grievances with life, unabashedly declaring when they aren’t okay. Propelled by a danceable drum beat, “Overeducated” sees the band having fun while not knowing what to do with their lives — Stream.

“This song is about how completely lost and directionless I was in my college and post-college years,” shares frontman Andrew Levin. “I remember feeling like I was on this trajectory in school that was leading to the rest of my life, but it wasn’t what I wanted. It was a time in my life where I felt like I was going along with someone else’s plan. I basically had no idea what I wanted in my life. This song is basically about the headspace I was in during that time.”

Other released singles of the forthcoming EP, “Not That Bad,” “Life Coach” and “Maybe I’m A Masochist” have won praise from Atwood Magazine, Sweety High, BuzzbandsLA, The Rodeo (UK) and SPILL Magazine. Following the release of “Life Coach,” The Drives were featured on the cover of Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Alternative Playlist for two weeks. In their home of Los Angeles, the band also recently stopped by Jam In The Van for a live session

ABOUT THE DRIVES

The Drives are a trio who craft gritty indie-rock music that explores complex narratives of vulnerability with raw, unfiltered honesty. Comprised of singer/guitarist Andrew Levin, producer/guitarist Casey Chen, and bassist Geo Botelho, they currently produce and record everything out of their home studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles.

First beginning to release music in 2017 with the single “Tell Me,” the group was off to a quick start landing on multiple Amazon Music playlists including DV8, Alternative Hits, Fresh Alternative and Fresh Indie. The song was even used for a Pizza Hut commercial in 2018.

Continuing to release music and build momentum with the slight hiccup of the global pandemic, they kept songsmithing and released “OCD” in October 2020. Inspired by Andrew’s own experiences with mental health, “OCD” gained critical acclaim from various media outlets including Buzzbands LA. The next track “All This Boredom” was featured by Atwood Magazine, as well as Buzzbands LA’s 88.5 FM show and 89.3 FM Liverpool. In January 2021, the band released “The Comedown,” a slacker rock anthem that received praise from FLOOD and Spill Magazine.

The end of 2021 saw The Drives return to playing live shows and the release of their debut EP This Might Take A While. Their debut EP has garnered over 1.6 million streams on Spotify and over 1.1 million streams on Amazon Music. In the time since, the band has been diligently working in their home studio to put together their second EP, with multiple singles out in the ether now.

Blur Divine isn’t just a collection of love songs - quite the opposite. These are unlove songs veiled in facades of closeness, distorted reality and warped perceptions. They tell the story of how loving someone can sometimes mean walking the perilous path of losing oneself, and in order to balance the scales once again, the act of unloving another becomes of utmost importance. Visual themes on this EP - on the cover, in the video etc - are of absinthe and murky swamps, representing the continual warping of reality that can easily swallow those who feel the most.

Gaeta has been inspired by personal events, stories of those around her, and perhaps most of all: the push-pull energy of gritty Paris nights. Her perception of the city feels constantly in flux - a testament to the idea that we create our own realities.

The EP was mostly written between two locations in Paris, beginning in 2020 pandemic lockdowns, after Gaeta had just moved to Paris from Berlin. One was a sublet in the 8th floor of a 1970s apartment complex, with renowned Père Lachaise Cemetery as her backyard and the sprawling cityscape of Paris in the front. The apartment felt like a lo-fi sex dungeon with faux leather curtains, fetishwear found in closets, mysterious stains and a mirror surrounding the bed. To Gaeta, it represented a window into a collective psyche, of others’ pain and pleasure. The second location was more isolated from much of the city’s hustle and bustle, providing an introspective and personal space to create. These dual locations certainly influenced the record’s dynamic.

In late 2021, Gaeta linked up with James “Perturbator” Kent, who took an interest in the track’s dark trip-hop sound. He produced and mixed the track, which coincided with a video by filmmaker David Fitt - an ode to Paris nights.

In 2023, when Gaeta had a full EP complete, she reached out to LA-based producer Alex DeGroot, who is particularly adept at blending organic and electronic sounds, and the two worked across the miles to bring Blur Divine to life.

TEHYA RELEASES DEBUT “CROWD PLEASER” ON NEON GOLD RECORDS

TEHYA RELEASES DEBUT “CROWD PLEASER”

ON NEON GOLD RECORDS HERE

Artist photo - pls credit: contradash -

Today, TEHYA releases her debut track “crowd pleaser”. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist hails from LA via Seattle. She arrives with a knockout debut on “crowd pleaser”, produced in collaboration with Rence and Contradash. With “crowd pleaser”, TEHYA becomes the latest superstar-in-waiting to join the lengthy lineage of alt pop artists at Neon Gold Records, the celebrated independent label that first put out Charli XCX, Tove Lo, MARINA, Christine and The Queens and many more.

TEHYA explains: "i started and finished on it in a day, Rence played a really sick little idea and we immediately locked in and built it all out. it’s about superficiality and how that tends to strain relations by lack of genuine connection. always more concerned with putting on a show for those around you, always caring more for their opinions/ perceptions of you than that of the one closest to you. the duality of it is it’s also pretty much literally about my ex going on tour and all that drama"

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest in the crosshairs of her ancestral cultures; Cherokee, Filipino and Scotch-Irish, Tehya was heavily influenced by music and took after her father, a local legend funk drummer, from a young age. After leaving home at 16, she found her community in a Capitol Hill artist compound frequented by some of the biggest names in the Seattle underground rap scene. It was here she picked up production via osmosis, sitting in on sessions and teaching herself Pro Tools and FL whenever a room was going spare. She is self-taught across the board – playing guitar, keys, drums, and writing 100% of her toplines and lyrics – a self-made DIY popstar unbound by genre and ready for the spotlight.
