JEAN-MICHEL JARRE To Release 40th Anniversary Remastered Edition of ‘The Concerts In China’ November 25

JEAN-MICHEL JARRE

TO RELEASE 40TH ANNIVERSARY REMASTERED EDITION OF

‘THE CONCERTS IN CHINA’

NOVEMBER 25 ON SONY MUSIC

ALBUM FEATURES "SOUVENIR OF CHINA" AS HEARD ON

BIG SEAN FT. ROYCE DA 5'9" AND KENDRICK LAMAR TRACK "100"

Jean-Michel Jarre will release a remastered version of his historic live album The Concerts In China on November 25. Originally released in 1982, the album served as a document of an historic concert tour Jarre undertook in 1981 - consisting of five spectacular concerts in the People's Stadium of Shanghai and Beijing. It was the first time a Western music artist had performed in the country following the Cultural Revolution.

To this day The Concerts in China experience remains to be probably the most surreal and poetic of all my experiences. It was an honor to be the first Western musician to play live in the country at that time and it was like visiting another planet for me; and also for the Chinese audience too it seemed to be the same curious awe,” shares Jean-Michel Jarre. “I have revisited China very often out of passion for their culture and have performed there since, at The Forbidden City and on Tiananmen Square. I am delighted that ‘The Concerts in China' album has been remastered, as it’s something I’m incredibly proud of and remains a testimony of my ongoing attachment to China.”

The remaster arrives soon after Jarre’s latest studio album OXYMORE which was released on October 21 to critical acclaim. The album includes the beautiful original composition “Souvenir of China” which was recently taken by Big Sean on his track “100 (feat. Royce Da 5’9” and Kendrick Lamar)”.

The 40th Anniversary remastered edition of The Concerts In China will be available as 180g 2LP version with gatefold sleeve, including a collector’s poster featuring unpublished images, and as 2CD version including collector’s booklet, as well as digitally. The track list mirrors the original version of the album.

One new composition included on the album was “Fishing Junks at Sunset,” a new arrangement of a traditional Chinese song known as the “Fisherman's Chant at Dusk,” which was performed and recorded with The Peking Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra.

The concert tour was the first time Jarre performed his music with other musicians on stage and featured the first use of a laser harp.

The track listing for the album in all formats is as follows:

WEYES BLOOD HITS THE ROAD WITH A RED-EYED HUMANOID IN THE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR “GRAPEVINE”

WEYES BLOOD HITS THE ROAD WITH A RED-EYED HUMANOID IN THE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR “GRAPEVINE”

Weyes Blood’s Natalie Mering stars in a horrific love story in the official video for “Grapevine,” her epic new road ballad from And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow. Beauty meets the beast in this visual tale which features a car crash, a humanoid with glowing red eyes, and a haunted grapevine graveyard.  Who is this ominous figure, and what does it want with Natalie? Watch and find out in the “Grapevine” video, directed by Actual Objects.

Upon its release earlier this month, “Grapevine” earned praise from the likes of Stereogum, who called it, ‘“A lush, swirling folk-rock song — a slow build that sounds pretty majestic even as it begins its climb.” Brooklyn Vegan adds that “Grapevine” is “a gorgeous song cut from the same ’70s-meets-now cloth that Weyes Blood does so well.”  Beats Per Minute offers this, “While listening to Mering sing in her unbelievably rich and dulcet voice over simple acoustic strums and subtly gorgeous synth and string augmentations, you can imagine her speeding away in a convertible, her hair billowing in the wind, a look of determination on her face.”

Weyes Blood’s “In Holy Flux Tour,” a headlining international touring run for late winter and Spring of 2023 in support of And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow, begins on Saturday, January 28th in Berlin at Festsaal Kreuzberg and currently runs through Saturday, April 2nd in Tulsa at Cain’s Ballroom. Due to popular demand, Weyes Blood’s Tuesday, March 7th performance in Montreal has moved from the Corona Theatre to MTELUS. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new venue.  For up-to-date information on tickets, please visit WeyesBlood.com/tour.

IGGY POP “FRENZY” NEW SINGLE OUT NOW ON ATLANTIC RECORDS / GOLD TOOTH RECORDS

IGGY POP
“FRENZY”
NEW SINGLE
OUT NOW
ON ATLANTIC RECORDS / GOLD TOOTH RECORDS

“Being stalked by a socio is a great way to fire up the blood.” —Iggy Pop on “Frenzy”

Iggy Pop explodes back onto the scene with the aptly titled “Frenzy.” The brand new single is out today via the recently announced partnership between Atlantic Records and Gold Tooth Records, the new label founded by GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum “Frenzy“ producer and guitarist, Andrew Watt.

Three solid minutes of unadulterated primal rock fury, “Frenzy” signals a return to the raw powered aggro of earlier Iggy vintages—a sharp 180 degree turn from Iggy’s most recent album, 2019’s Free. Where Free’s somber and contemplative meditations on mortality and the human condition saw a vulnerable Iggy taking a deep look inward, “Frenzy” lashes out with the unmistakable and unequaled intensity that earned Iggy the Godfather of Punk sobriquet—fueled by a band consisting of producer Watt (guitar/background vocals), Duff McKagan (bass) and Chad Smith (drums).

ELFMAN AND BOY HARSHER TO PERFORM HIGHLY ANTICIPATED CONCERTS TONIGHT AND TOMORROW AT
THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL IN LOS ANGELES, CA

Danny Elfman (Photo Credit: Jonathan Williamson)
October 28th, 2022 (Los Angeles, CA) - Today, Danny Elfman has unveiled a brand new music video for Boy Harsher’s remix of “Happy,” the latest visual to accompany his recent remix album Bigger. Messier [Anti- / Epitaph]. Complete with unsettlingly saccharine smiles, laughter and cheerleading choreography that feel like a warped VHS tape unearthed from the deepest depths of the 1980s, the music video brings to life the duo’s darkwave pop rendition of the song with the help of directors Muted Widows and Elfman’s creative director Berit Gwendolyn Gilma. Watch now HERE.

The release comes just in time for Elfman’s highly anticipated back-to-back concerts tonight (October 28th) and tomorrow (October 29th) at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA, both of which will feature Boy Harsher as a special guest. Entitled Danny Elfman: From Boingo to Batman to Big Mess and Beyond!the live concerts will see Elfman presenting expanded, full length versions of his internet-breaking, critically acclaimed performances at Coachella Music and Arts Festival earlier this spring. His first official career-spanning headline performances, both nights at the iconic Hollywood Bowl will feature Elfman backed by the same rock band, orchestra, and choir that he played with at Coachella, as they perform songs from Oingo Boingo; his solo career, including his 2021 album Big Mess; as well as a plethora of his film scores and television themes from Alice in Wonderland, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Simpsons, and more. The audience will be transported into Elfman’s vision and magical world; with his haunting compositions brought to life on stage and enhanced by visuals on the big screen. Fans who didn’t make it to the Coachella shows or those who were there and want to experience an extended version won’t want to miss it, and the last remaining tickets can be purchased now HERE.

Today’s music video also arrives on the second anniversary of the release of Elfman’s original version of “Happy,” serving as a full circle moment for him and a return to the origin of his expansive and wildly ambitious Big Mess project: the track that ignited it all two years ago. A biting social commentary, “Happy” marked the first taste from Big Mess upon its initial premiere in October 2020 and saw the 4x Oscar nominated, Grammy and Emmy Award-winning artist deliver the unexpected yet again – just as he has all throughout his incomparably prolific career.

Following the release of “Happy” along with several other dynamic singles and aesthetically inventive videos, Elfman officially debuted Big Mess in June 2021 to widespread acclaim. Clocking in at 18 tracks, the kinetic double album finds Elfman breaking bold new ground as both a songwriter and a performer while joining forces with drummer Josh Freese (Devo, Weezer, The Vandals), bassist Stu Brooks (Dub Trio, Lady Gaga, Lauryn Hill), and guitarists Robin Finck (Nine Inch Nails, Guns N’ Roses) and Nili Brosh (Tony MacAlpine, Paul Gilbert).

Always continuing to push the envelope, Elfman then unveiled Bigger. Messier. this past summer  a brand new genre-defying album of remixed and reimagined versions of music from Big Mess. The 21-track project is comprised of collaborations and guest vocal features from a sprawling array of artists including Trent Reznor, Iggy Pop, HEALTH, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Zach Hill of Death Grips, Xiu Xiu, Squarepusher, Ghostemane and many more. With the help of his collaborators Gilma and Stu Brooks, and his longtime manager Laura Engel, Elfman enlisted a unique arsenal of artists to use the original Big Mess songs as their canvases and experiment in their own distinct voices.

Both Big Mess and Bigger. Messier. channel the riveting unpredictability that has pulsed through all of Elfman’s projects to-date, from his early days with the theatrical Mystic Knights to the rock band Oingo Boingo, to his prolific work scoring over 100 films & television series including Marvel’s new blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Noah Baumbach’s buzzing new ilm White Noise, and Tim Burton’s highly anticipated new series Wednesday

To mark the 40th anniversary of “Valley Girl,” Frank Zappa’s sardonic, GRAMMY®-nominated Top 40 hit co-written with and featuring his then teenage daughter Moon Unit Zappa, acclaimed British electronic music producer Flux Pavilion has been recruited to craft a very special remix of the track.

A longtime Zappa fan, Flux Pavilion, adds a unique twist to the classic while keeping true to the essence of the original. A true legend of the electronic music scene, The Circus Records owner has previously worked alongside M.I.A., Dillon Francis, Marshmello, Steve Aoki, and many others. Flux has made no secret of his passion for Zappa over the years, in fact singling him out as one of his key influences. "What I love about his music is how wild and untethered it is. He was so unashamedly himself as a creator and that's a mentality that I have woven into everything that I do," Flux Pavilion says.

Released in 1982, the satirical track – which poked fun at the teen culture of Southern California’s San Fernando Valley – became the innovative artist’s biggest hit in the U.S. and inadvertently popularized “Valspeak” across the nation while capturing the zeitgeist of the day. A longtime Zappa fan, Flux Pavilion, adds a unique twist to the classic while keeping true to the essence of the original. Today Waldo Witt shares the music video for his new single, "Love Like A Fire" from the forthcoming LP, Long Daze Dark Nights. Watch the video HERE. Waldo Witt's Long Daze Dark Nights will be self-released on March 10, 2023.

Waldo Witt spoke on the single's origin"'Love Like A Fire' is inspired by a 16th century poem written by a Spanish mystic. It follows the journey of the soul through the darkness and solitude of uncertainty, towards illumination and clarity. This poem has helped me in understanding my own struggles as being part of life's path - thus opening the door to acceptance and growth."

Bio:
Long Daze, Dark Nights is the upcoming album from Waldo Witt. The artist embraces 60s and 70s psychedelia inspirations like Todd Rundgren, King Crimson, and Brian Wilson, alongside a continued adoration of 80s soft rock and disco, resulting in a vibrant sounding record, full of hooks and charismatic structural twists.

Even in its nostalgic glow, Long Daze, Dark Nights doesn’t linger too long in the past. Hook-heavy throwback odes are abundant, though also resonating with modern production and thematic pursuits. Offering poignant reflection following the past several years of tumult, the release explores themes of uncertainty, instability, and unpredictability. Waldo, his wife, and their van road-tripped through much of the pandemic, and many of the release’s lyrics were written while traveling in isolated areas throughout the country, like rural Montana and Colorado.

The result is filled with introspection and soul-searching, representative of how artistic creation can lead to great self-discovery. The release, in particular, pursues how one feels the need to create and make art. “It leads you to the experience of being completely in the moment, which is what it’s all about,” Waldo says. “The ups, downs, in betweens – all are expressions of the aliveness of being.”

The creative process for Long Daze, Dark Nights began in the summer of 2020, in Taos, New Mexico. Waldo and his van trekked to a variety of studios and ensuing musical collaborations, with new and old friends alike. Much of the recording took place at the late Radio Milk studios in Austin, owned/operated by James Petralli (White Denim). Ample work was also done at Waldo’s home in Chapel Hill, NC.

Waldo’s debut EP, Randall, released in 2019, unveiling his atmospheric and melodic sound. Spanning from the punchy pop of “Crystal Ball” to the emotively lush “Carteret”, Randall was also written primarily out of Waldo’s van, while he was traversing cross-country. The release drew praise for its approach, which paired hypnotic psychedelic production with hooky synth-pop charm. A second EP, Inner Paths, released in 2020.
