GHOST and VOLBEAT will be co-headlining across the US beginning January 25th, and to commemorate the monumental tour, the bands have teamed up with Blackened Recordings to release a limited edition Double A-Side 7” featuring each band’s contributions to The Metallica Blacklist charity album: Ghost’s cover of “Enter Sandman” on ‘Side G’ and Volbeat’s “Don’t Tread On Me” on ‘Side V.’ The 7” will be pressed on crystal clear vinyl and limited to only 3,000 units with 115 copies available at each tour stop on a first-come, first-served basis (limit one per customer). All proceeds from the split 7” will be split evenly between The All Within My Hands Foundation and the charities of the artists’ choice: Camp Aranu’tiq (Ghost) and Børne Cancer Fonden (Volbeat). The two bands will kick off their co-headlining 26-date U.S. arena tour on January 25th, with support from Los Angeles’ Twin Temple. Ghost’s fourth consecutive #1 at Active Rock Radio “Hunter’s Moon” recently moved Guitar World to note that "juxtaposition between subject matter and composition is something that the Swedish rock outfit have always nailed, and they do it to superior effect on this new single.” The track’s origins and its appearance in the box office phenomenon Halloween Kills can be traced back to the band’s 2018 headlining show at the Forum in Los Angeles. Ryan Turek, Vice President of Feature Film Development at  Blumhouse Productions (Get Out, Insidious, The Purge, Us, Whiplash) attended the sold-out show, striking up an instant rapport with Ghost's Tobias Forge — one that ultimately led to a visit with co-writer / director David Gordon Green on the North Carolina set of Halloween Kills. Three years nearly to the day after that first fateful exchange, “Hunter’s Moon” would be released on DSPs, would play as the Halloween Kills end credits rolled, and will be released January 21, 2022 as a collectible 7-inch single by Loma Vista Recordings (featuring the exclusive B-side “Halloween Kills (Main Title),” performed, produced and engineered by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies). Volbeat’s newest album, Servant of the Mind, which Revolver calls “excellent… the darkest and heaviest Volbeat offering yet,” was released on December 3rd via Republic Records. Recorded at Echo Zoo studios, produced by the band’s guitarist Theo Verney - known for his production work for FEET, English Teacher, FUR and Home Counties (and engineered by Christoph Skirl), "Reset My Password" bursts into focus amidst rolling percussion, searing guitars and fizzing synths, with singer Seb Gilmore's affirming his appreciation for his own employment status, whilst being distinctly aware of the trivial nature of 'adhering to company policy'. A cacophonous blast of agitated indie-punk, "Reset My Password" fuses the energy of naughties indie with the ferocity of modern post-punk to irresistible effect. Commenting on the new single, Seb Gilmore said: "At the height of Covid, everyone was clapping for NHS staff and key workers… and that got me thinking what my place is in all this mess. I then logged onto my work computer and was advised by a popup that it was time to reset my password. So I wrote a song about how pointless and useless my job is to the world when everything felt like it was breaking and seemed apocalyptic." Speaking more on their upcoming EP, Gilmore added: "Our new EP ‘Flavour Of Labour’ has a couple of different themes but it's mainly about work. At the time I had lived in Brighton for almost 10 years and for a lot of that time I'd worked pretty terrible call centre jobs. When you leave education and your first taste of full time work is working for bad companies who are either taking advantage of their employees or their customers. How can you feel good about giving 40 hours a week of your life to something like that. So heck! I'll write a song about it or like 10." Brooklyn post-punk mainstays SAVAK have returned with "Cold Ocean" b/w "Adolescence Obsolete," the latest in a string of ripping new singles. The A-side "Cold Ocean" and its accompanying video were debuted via Post-Trash, who said the track "continues the band’s wiry precision, a song that is really built on insistent bass and a darting guitar line that fully combusts during the hook." The “Cold Ocean” video, directed by Rob Kassabian and starring Mark Weills as “Walker Slim,” was shot on a cold November day in various Brooklyn locales, including the seasonally bare Brighton Beach and Coney Island boardwalks. Weills as Slim portrays a down-on-his-luck loser who must hawk a prized possession to buy a ring for a lover who never shows. SAVAK principals Michael Jaworski and Sohrab Habibion have supporting roles as “Babyshoes” and “Sniffles” respectively. Two Brooklyn hustlers mired in their grind, doing what they do before moving on to their next grift. The video ends with Walker Slim stood up on the boardwalk, frustrated by a failed romantic rendezvous facing unrequited love and a broken dream of what will never be. The tide rises and the tide falls. SAVAK is the two-headed beast of Sohrab Habibion and Michael Jaworski, with Matt Schulz on drums. Jaworski and Habibion have been sharing singing and songwriting duties since the band’s inception in 2015, both taking turns singing their songs while playing guitar and other various instruments. Jaworski takes his shot here penning and singing lead vocals on "Cold Ocean," while the B-side to this digital A-side features Habibion in kind on “Adolescence Obsolete.”

January 10, 2020—Today, The Simps—the duo of L.A. psych-garage rockers Eyedress and zzzahara—confirm their debut album Siblings is set for release March 14 on Lex Records. Along with the album announcement, they unveil a new track, “Tesla.” Listen/share HERE. 

The Los Angeles-based duo have released two singles thus far—“Miss Fortunate” and “On Fye”—the latter of which has 7.3 million Spotify streams and continues to climb.

Eyedress and zzzahara met in the fall of 2018 following an Eyedress show in Los Angeles and began jamming together, eventually leading to zzzahara joining Eyedress’ band on guitar while the two also wrote songs together on the side. “When I saw Idris, I got a lot of encouragement,” zzzahara notes. “My dad wanted me to be a money-making machine and my mom’s an immigrant from the Philippines, and so to her, a lot of things weren’t possible for me being a person of color and being gay,” they describe—zzzahara is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.

“I literally just let Z do their thing,” Eyedress says. “I feel like when we work together, we’re just making the styles of music that we’re a fan of, and because we’re into the same shit, we just end up making something totally new.” He continues, “I’m just proud that we’re Filipino and we get to do this. Most of the artists that I look up to in this indie world are white, and I think it’s cool that we’re amongst these people and we can even connect with kids in the hood who don’t even have a bunch of white friends but still feel the same things. They’re just human feelings. Everyone can relate.”

Filipino artist Eyedress has been signed to Lex Records since the release of his debut album in 2017. In 2020, his LP Let’s Skip to the Wedding featured viral hit single “Jealous” which has been used in over 1 million TikTok videos—peaking at #10 on TikTok’s Top Alternative Rock Tracks of 2021—and has over 172 million streams on Spotify. His latest album Mulholland Drive was released in 2021.

zzzahara will be releasing their debut solo album this year.

Curtis Godino Presents The Midnight Wishers - "No Place Like Home" What if a cute girl group scored a hit song about a car crash, then actually died in a car crash, but decades later, David Lynch conjured their spirits for a beach-themed Halloween special? That’s a feeble attempt to describe the fun, spooky universe evoked by musician, songwriter and producer Curtis Godino with his latest project, Curtis Godino Presents The Midnight Wishers. "I’ve always been a fan of girl groups and old generic love songs," says the Brooklyn-based artist, previously known around town for his psychedelic band Worthless and his ’60s-style light projection shows. "No matter how cheesy, they always get stuck in my head, so I decided I would try to make some of my own, with the help of my friends." Chief among those friends are The Midnight Wishers: lead vocalist Jin Lee, and backing singers Rachel Herman and Jessica McFarland, all of whom Godino recruited for the project. Lee also contributed lyrics, which she tends to recite as often as she sings in a dreamy, earnest voice. The trio are the perfect messengers for Godino’s tunes, visually as well as sonically. In photos, they pose before bubble-gummy backgrounds, playing with an ouija board by candlelight, elemental like a cartoon crime-fighting team with their respective black, red and blonde hair. But make no mistake: This project belongs to Godino, a musical ringmaster in the tradition of Phil Spector or more aptly Shadow Morton, whose noir sensibilities spawned such uncanny pop marvels as the Shangri-Las’ "Leader of the Pack" and "Remember (Walking in the Sand)." In this case, Godino built the wall of sound almost entirely by himself, recording on his eight-track tape machine during the pandemic shutdown. Starting with drum tracks from Andrew Max and Adam Amram, he would add picked bass guitar in the style of L.A. studio legend Carol Kaye, then go bonkers with fuzzy guitars, Farfisa organ, mellotron, analog synthesizers, glockenspiel, an arsenal of other percussion instruments and an array of mysterious electronic effects. To fully realize the vision, however, Godino knew he needed more firepower. The Wishers’ multilayered harmonies and other vocal tracks were recorded and engineered by his roommate, Paul Millar, at Millar’s Bug Sound East studio. "I'm sure all those incredible old records were recorded on a four-track or whatever, but I don’t have the same discipline," says Godino, whose stated goal was to create "songs so sweet they’ll give you a cavity." The album is set for release February 11 on NYC musician-producer Kramer’s Shimmy-Disc label, in collaboration with Indianapolis-based Joyful Noise Recordings. Paving the way will be the unveiling of three singles: “No Place Like Home," “He Loves Me Not," and "Always Waiting." "Always Waiting," the album’s opening cut, sets the mood immediately with a melancholy marimba and a chilly blast of blowing-wind effects. In a babyish, deadpan monologue, Lee introduces the persona that looms over the album: a long-suffering girlfriend on the verge of a violent outburst. In this case, she sits by a phone that doesn’t ring – waiting, wishing, wondering – and starts a call-and-response pattern with the backing duo, whom Godino’s production pumps up into a demented children’s choir. Her forlornness is palpable: "As I sit waiting for tomorrow Another day, another sorrow When I look into the sky all I see" Are my lover’s longing eyes staring back at me."No Place Like Home," Godino says, is “a liminal love song,” with a simple, ghostly arrangement of organ, drum machine, guitar and glockenspiel to explore thoughts of love in the space between dreams and waking life. "When you close your eyes, I’ll be watching you from the other side," Lee sings. "He Loves Me Not" is the album’s most decisive foray beyond the girl-group formula. Lyrics inspired by the lovelorn flower-picking game are supported by piano, mellotron, woodwinds and backward tracks plucked directly from the British Invasion. Godino describes it as “a song with a fall feeling.”  The album was mastered by Kramer, who just last year resurrected Shimmy-Disc, a label that championed Daniel Johnston, GWAR, Jad Fair, King Missile, the Boredoms and Kramer’s own bands Bongwater and Shockabilly. He refers to Godino as "a genius," and Godino appreciates the support. "If it weren't for Kramer’s encouragement, I don’t think this would have turned out to be the album it is," Godino says. "We’re all very grateful, and surprised, that it is going to be a real thing in the world."
