Amperland, NY artwork  Pinegrove have revealed details of a new feature length film, Amperland, NY, and accompanying soundtrack album to be released digitally on January 15th and physically on February 26th on Rough Trade. The film, scripted from a short story by Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall and directed by Kenna Hynes, was filmed at the band’s long time home in upstate New York, known as “Amperland” to Pinegrove and their fans, prior to the house being sold by the owner earlier this year. The band will screen a ticketed online premiere for fans as a fundraiser for environmental action group The Sunrise Movement on January 13th at 6pm EST for a donation of $5.00 and over. The screening will be followed by a band Q&A moderated by Busy Philipps. Tickets for the screening are available now at Pinegroveband.com along with pre-order for the soundtrack album. The film, produced in conjunction with Chromoscope Pictures, and described by Evan as “fun, hopefully poignant, definitely weird ”, includes 22 songs - a full set list length of performances - spanning the band’s entire career to date. Those new renditions of old gems, recorded live in the Amperland house by Pinegrove’s Sam Skinner, will be released as a soundtrack album - also titled Amperland, NY -  at the same time as the film. Evan explains the film as “threaded by a surreal, giddy narrative - reimaginings of our songbook and first-time-imaginings of Pinegrovian tall tales.” The band viewed the project as a way of honoring the house that had acted as home, recording studio and important creative haven for their last two albums: Skylight (2017) and Marigold (2020). Today’s news comes with the release of one of the songs from the project: a new live version of “Morningtime (Amperland, NY)”, which originally appeared on Pinegrove’s 2012’s self-released debut, Meridian, and reissued on Everything so Far (2015). ALEX THE ASTRONAUT released her anticipated debut album The Theory Of Absolutely Nothing this summer via Nettwerk, receiving praise from The New York Times, NPR Music, The Guardian, Refinery29, NME, Brooklyn Vegan, FLOOD Magazine and more. Now, the Sydney, Australia-based singer, songwriter and storyteller has been recognized by Out Magazine’s 26th Annual Out100--the largest annual portfolio recognizing members of the LGBTQ+ community for their groundbreaking, ripple-inducing, and culture-shifting impact around the world. The 2020 Out100 sees Alex appear alongside some of her biggest influences, like Lizzo, Janelle Monáe, Rachel Maddow and Wanda Sykes. This great honor caps off an exciting few months for Alex following the release of The Theory Of Absolutely Nothing. Last month, she received her first ARIA Award nomination for “Breakthrough Artist” and played a series of sold-out, socially distanced live shows near Sydney, which she aptly named the “I’m Only Allowed to Hug Your Ears” tour. She also recently launched the ‘Alex Learns...’ video series, where she learns something new during the course of the video while injecting each episode with her trademark charm and wit. He brilliantly pairs themes of vulnerability, love, and hope born out of the pandemic on the set, produced by close collaborator Theron “Neff-U” Feemster (Michael Jackson, Dr. Dre, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat). Today, he shared the gorgeous video for lead single “Hold Me” - https://youtu.be/eFM0e4lOeDo.      “Hold Me” reflects the immense emotional depth and love that comes from opening oneself up to intimacy. An exploration of balancing the relentless pursuit of a dream while needing to ask for love and support, the track pairs Henry’s regal falsetto with a rippling and kinetic neo-soul production. Tight wordless harmonies wash over the rubbery bass and clap-along percussion, as Henry righteously explores his own deepest fears: “At the crossroads, hoping that you’ll hold me/ Don’t let go, don’t let go.” The track has also had early success with playlists at DSPs including Spotify’s “New Music Friday” (US, Canada, World) and Amazon’s “The New Black.”  WATCH “HOLD ME” HERE

Henry made a name for himself in his Tony-nominated turn in Scottsboro Boys and as Aaron Burr in the first touring company of Hamilton, but his passion for music was rooted in childhood. As he progressed through Broadway, TV, and film roles, Henry’s heart beat out rhythms, his voice ringing with clarion emotion. But the entire time, he longed for an outlet to express his own story. “I’d been writing songs for nearly a decade, but my incredible wife, Cathryn, pushed me to not waste any time and follow that passion," Henry recalls. “I continue to love acting, stepping into someone else’s shoes, but this year made one thing super clear to me: We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, so I had to really give it my all.” ‘GUARANTEE’ TRACK LISTING 01 - Hold Me 02 - Stand Up 03 - Guarantee 04 - Possible As New York was plunged into lockdown, the inspiration and the process of art became intertwined. As his wife took on nursing shifts caring for COVID patients, Henry would sneak into the music room in the family’s apartment to record vocals. “It was an amazing exercise in watching something grow through constraints--to know what’s possible if you have the right people supporting you,” he says. Whether walking through Central Park or a conversation over breakfast, time with his wife and son were particularly influential on Henry’s songwriting. “In the past I’ve been a really private person, but they gave me freedom to break my chest open, to get into conversations about self-discovery and vulnerability,” he explains.  “This EP is full of my heart, but I also want people to jump and groove to it, to feel it cerebrally, spiritually, and bodily,” Henry notes. “There was a blank canvas that took me back to when I was seven years old, just writing from my heart, with nothing to lose.”

The album, with a distinct blend of classical, vintage pop and indie rock influences, has caught the attention of tastemakers from NPR Music, Nashville Scene and Under The Radar, who premiered the video for her single, stating, “Luce’s lustrous vocals run atop the rich instrumental, filling the song with resonant power as she reflects on her attempts to reach the divine.”   Co-written with Raymond Joseph, the songs blend layers of acoustic guitar, crafted orchestral arrangement and gentle piano accompaniment, which compliment Luce’s crystalline vocals, which reflect on her religious upbringing and the common ground she eventually found with her family. Luce explained, “Growing up in a religious family, I have often questioned the existence of God. Music led me to spaces filled with people that did not believe the same things I did. I started to question the beliefs I was raised with and become curious about other possibilities.”   The song is accompanied by a stunning video produced by Alysse Gafkjen and choreographed by Luce herself. The beautiful imagery, interpretive dance numbers, and the warm hues used in the video make this incredible piece of art come to life. Describing the unique production Luce says, “We wanted to include local dancers so I reached out to Sarah Salim and Alex Winer who I had worked with in a previous music video and Joi Ware who is currently in the contemporary dance group New Dialect. I choreographed the instrumental section of the song but most of the dance was improvised movement.”   Luce grew up in a strict musical household where her mother was a professional conductor for the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra and learning the violin was not presented as a choice. A virtuoso from six years old, she excelled in numerous philharmonics. She obtained her master’s at UCLA in the viola but knew her path was not that of a professional classical musician. Explaining, Luce says, “I am grateful for my classical upbringing and that I’ve gotten to absorb a diverse education in music. Ultimately it all brought me to this space of getting to create from experiences that are only mine.”   Dark River follows her debut solo album Azalea, released in 2018, an accomplished release, and established her as a notable emerging talent in Nashville and beyond. Luce also leads Lockeland Strings, a community arts organization that puts on monthly showcases of local artists accompanied by string quartet arrangements, alongside performances of new contemporary classical pieces from local composers. It partners with a new nonprofit each month to give a platform to organizations including the ACLU of Tennessee, Girls Write Nashville and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
