December 3, 2020—Emerging 15-year-old artist glaive shares the video for “dnd” from his debut EP Cypress Grove todayThe FADER, in profiling him last month, called the track “a sober and poised look at the strangeness of becoming successful while the world is on fire.” Watch the video here.
glaive is a vocalist, songwriter and producer based in the mountains of North Carolina who began making music at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, releasing his first song on Soundcloud in April and attracting an audience with a steady stream of tracks like “astrid” this summer and “eyesore” last month.
glaive’s handful of releases to date have landed him completely independently on the cover of Spotify’s hyperpop playlist. Pigeons & Planes, in naming him one of the Best New Artists of July, said: The stuff he’s making now feels very of-the-moment and while it’s a far cry from traditional radio pop and Hot 100 charts, it’s not hard to imagine these sounds becoming more prevalent in the mainstream in the coming years.”

La Femme Releases
New Song and Video “Disconnexion

Third Single From Upcoming Third Album

“They effortlessly combine a diverse range of sounds and styles – surf rock, new wave,
french rap – into a cohesive and captivating melange” - The New Yorker

“[La Femme] tries on a wardrobe of different clothes – psychedelia, surf rock, electronica,
krautrock and more – and ends up looking fantastic in all of them.” - The Guardian

December 3, 2020: Two weeks after the release of their single “Cool Colorado,” La Femme has released another new song and video titled “Disconnexion.” It’s the third single from the band’s upcoming third album (details TBA).

Watch “Disconnexion” here: https://youtu.be/JR2mZChrO2c

Like their first two singles “Paradigme” and “Cool Colorado,” the “Disconnexion” video takes place in a mysterious universe that La Femme has created for this new album. Parodying an intellectual TV debate, the video features a philosophic speech given by a strange orator, a psychedelic cantatrice singing over a disco beat, and a wild banjo solo played by a clown in the middle of a phantasmagorical orgy.

The band’s 2013 debut album Psycho Tropical Berlin won a Victoires de la Musique award (France’s equivalent to the GRAMMYs), and their 2016 sophomore album Mystére was praised by Sound Opinions, Line of Best Fit, The Guardian, All Music, BrooklynVegan, and more.

“Disconnexion” is out now via the band’s label Disque Pointu, distributed worldwide by IDOL.

About BLACKPINK

Since bursting onto the scene in 2016, BLACKPINK have redefined the possibilities of K-pop, transcending all categorization and ascending to global stardom. With their unstoppably catchy single “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” the South Korean quartet broke the record for highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 debut by an all-female K-pop act, while its head-turning video surpassed 10 million views in just six hours and racked up 36.2 million views in one day.

Discovered by YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK is comprised of JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA: four immensely charismatic vocalists, dancers, and burgeoning fashion icons. Released in 2016, their debut “SQUARE ONE” quickly proved their crossover power; in 2018, “SQUARE UP” climbed to #40 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Several months after “SQUARE UP” hit the charts, YG Entertainment and Interscope Records announced a global partnership for BLACKPINK, paving the way for the group’s international breakthrough. With their EP Kill This Love arriving in April 2019, BLACKPINK further boosted their popularity by successfully completing a world tour and becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, the largest music festival in the U.S. Most recently, THE ALBUM by BLACKPINK which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, marked the biggest chart debut by an all-female group in the US in over 12 years. THE ALBUM has also shattered the record for the highest first-week sales for a debut album from a K-pop group in all of music history.

Be a Rebel” has been hailed as a spectacular return for New Order and today they release the suitably stunning video for the single. Spanish director NYSU depicts a couple in turmoil using typically lavish and ultra-stylish visuals. Watch the new video here.

New Order: “We’d previously worked with NYSU from Madrid when they created a memorable video for us to go with ‘Restless,’ and their imagination and creativity with film really struck a chord with the band. For 'Be a Rebel,’ it has been great to team up with NYSU again, and their inspirational treatment and unique aesthetic compliments the track with a very original vision.”

New Order also released the Renegade Spezial Edit of “Be a Rebel” in September, the result of Bernard Sumner’s collaboration on a capsule range for adidas Spezial. This mix is an extended edit of the Adidas _nwrdrSPZL promotional video soundtrack whose accompanying film features dancer Rentaro Nakaaki of the English National Ballet.

“Be a Rebel” is available now on 12” vinyl and as a digital bundle with new remixes. Remixes featured on the single include Bernard's Renegade Mix (the original version of the adidas Spezial ad soundtrack) and Stephen Morris’ T34 Mix, as well as Bernard’s Renegade Instrumental Mix. Purchase the limited dove grey 12” here and stream the digital bundle here. Further dance floor engineered remixes will follow.

“Be a Rebel,” with its message to celebrate ourselves and appreciate what we have, even in hard times, was originally planned as a release ahead of New Order’s tour this autumn. But with live shows on hold and their dates re-scheduled to 2021, the band felt it important to share new music with fans. “In tough times we wanted to reach out with a new song. We can’t play live for a while, but music is still something we can all share together. We hope you enjoy it… until we meet again.” – Bernard Sumner

New Order recently released the definitive collection of their 1983 studio album Power, Corruption & Lies via Warner Music.

New Order are: Bernard Sumner, Gillian Gilbert, Stephen Morris, Tom Chapman and Phil Cunningham

NEW ALBUM GLOWING IN THE DARK Released February 12th 2021 on Because Music

Today, Django Django share a remix of their recent single “Glowing In The Dark” by Dance System. Over the course of 6 breath-taking minutes, the title track from the band’s forthcoming album is re-moulded and morphed into a dark and propulsive, shape-shifting slice of techno. Dance System (acclaimed producer and label founder James Connelly) has just released a much anticipated mixtape “Where’s The Party At?” with a star studded line-up including India Jordan, Hudson Mowhake, A-Trak, Herbet and Django Django’s drummer / producer Dave Maclean under his Hugo Paris moniker, and distils this club energy perfectly into this re-work.

Django Django recently announced their new album “Glowing in the Dark” a moment which heralds the beginning of a thrilling new era for the band. Read more about the inspirations behind the new record via Consequence of Sound’s recent Origins feature: https://consequenceofsound.net/2020/11/django-django-glowing-in-the-dark-origins-stream/

Glowing in the Dark has a running theme of escape: from despair, from constraints, from small town life, and even, in dreams, from the Earth. The brilliant title track and current single, for instance, soars gloriously towards the stratosphere. A track inspired by one of Dave Maclean’s spoken word records then plushly upholstered with Moog synths and drum loops, it is accompanied by some eye strobing visuals from rapidly ascending NYC artist and illustrator Braulio Amado.

It’s a glorious move forward, infused with the kind of freshness and confidence that comes hand in hand with a newfound optimism.

Glowing in the Dark will be released via Because Music on 12 February 2021 on limited edition glow-in-the-dark vinyl, standard black vinyl, CD and digital download/streaming on all usual platforms.
