Performance On The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon On Wednesday December 2nd

December 1st, 2020 - Los Angeles, California

Throughout her almost year long promotional interviews for Punisher, Phoebe Bridgers has been effusive in her appreciation of the work of award winning British actor, writer and producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It turns out the feeling was mutual and, after connecting over email during Covid quarantine, the two hatched a plan to collaborate together on a music video for “Savior Complex”. The result, starring Emmy-nominated Irish actor Paul Mescal and introducing an exceptional new talent known only as Charlotte is released today exclusively on Facebook.

Bridgers will perform the song, a fan favorite from Punisher, for The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon tomorrow night with a special rendition filmed at LA’s famed Magic Castle.

Last week saw 4 GRAMMY nominations for Bridgers in the categories of ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Best Alternative Album’, ‘Best Rock Song’ and ‘Best Rock Performance’. The nominations followed a flurry of activity as her cover of Merle Haggard’s “If We Make It Through December” was released to benefit the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles just days after she released a 4-track EP, Copycat Killer, with strings by Rob Moose. Bridgers also found herself with a surprise hit on her hands when her post-Presidential Election recording of The Goo Goo Dolls “Iris”, transformed into a duet with her friend Maggie Rogers, raised over $173,000 for Stacy Abrams’ Fair Fight Action in just one day and landed the duo at #1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales Charts with over 46,000 downloads. Bridgers launched her own record label, Saddest Factory Records, in October.

V**GRA BOYS RELEASE NEW SONG + VIDEO FOR "CREATURES"

NEW ALBUM WELFARE JAZZ AVAILABLE JANUARY 8TH VIA YEAR0001

When we last checked in on the V**gra Boys (**= "ia" because spam FILTERS) we found Sebastian Murphy wreaking havoc on the town in a drunken stumble. And at the end of that "Ain't Nice" video, the first song from their upcoming Welfare Jazz album out January 8th, he passed out awaking in the 18th century surrounded by servants in powdered wigs. Today the story continues with a new song and video for "Creatures". Watch as Murphy explores his new surroundings of mansions, pools, synchronized swimming, and more within the magical realist-inspired scene in which he's arrived.

The upcoming album is produced by Matt Sweeney (Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Run the Jewels), Justin and Jeremiah Raisen (Yves Tumor, Kim Gordon, Sky Ferreira) as well as past collaborators Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Daniel Fagerström (The Hives, The Knife). Ever the band drenched in satire, they return with their brand of horn-filled, searing post-punk and rejection of standard genre tropes to deftly lay waste to society's normalization of toxic masculinity, racism, misogyny, classism, and self-obsession.

Melanie C Releases New Track 'Into You' Today

MELANIE C UNVEILS BRAND NEW SINGLE, “INTO YOU” – OUT TODAY

SELF-TITLED, EIGHTH STUDIO ALBUM AVAILABLE NOW

‘MELANIE C’

Melanie C returns today with a brand new single, “Into You”. The track, a rousing four-to-the-floor anthem, was first heard on the deluxe edition of her latest album, 'Melanie C’, and previewed live during her innovative and hugely successful full-band global live stream concert, ‘Colour And Light’.

An immediate fan-favorite, “Into You” is a snapshot of Melanie C riding a new peak of her pop powers. Channeling her new music's wider theme of growth and self-acceptance as she sings "I don't need you to tell me I'm beautiful / I do it for myself, it's better for my health."

Speaking about the song, Melanie reveals, "I love this track. It makes me want to throw myself around the dance floor, which is obviously something none of us can do at the moment, so I don’t know whether that’s the right thing to say! Hopefully everyone will be back on the dance floor soon, jumping around to this."

Listen to “Into You” HERE.

Into You” follows the release of Melanie’s highly-anticipated, eight studio album, the self-titled ‘Melanie C’, which contains acclaimed singles ‘In And Out Of Love’, ‘Blame It On Me’, ‘Who I Am’, a recent collaboration with U.K rapper and rising star Nadia Rose(‘Fearless’), and more future-classics from an artist undoubtedly reaching a new peak of her pop powers, easily making this her most life-affirming, attitude-packed album to date. Sonically inspired by spending several months last year touring Pride parades with the LGBTQ+ club collective Sink The Pink, ‘Melanie C’ is a celebration of self, an album of arms-aloft anthems of self-acceptance. The album debuted in the Top 100 on Billboard’s Album Sales Chart, marking her US album chart debut as a solo artist.

Speaking about the album, Melanie explains, “The whole album has a theme of self-acceptance, of saying ‘this is who I am’, take or it or leave it. One of great things about getting older is that you gain the courage to care less. In the past perhaps I haven’t wanted to upset the apple cart. Now I’m up for kicking it over.” The album is also her most personal. “It’s only after I’ve finished a record that I can step back and see what I’ve written about,” says Melanie. “A lot of these songs are me looking back over my life, both personal and professional. We’re always so busy striving to achieve that we rarely take the time to reflect on what we’ve already done. I don’t just mean celebrating the successes, but also all of the shit we’ve overcome.”

'Melanie C' is available digitally, on CD and on vinyl both in standard edition and as x2 deluxe CD edition with bonus tracks, exclusive colored vinyl, and special limited deluxe vinyl with exclusive 12” singles. All live shows and album formats are available now via  https://melaniec.net

Texas and Wu-Tang Clan Reunite For New Single + Video "Hi"

Texas and Wu-Tang Clan Reunite
New Single "Hi" Out Now
Video Stars British Actor Kadeem Ramsay

Christmas comes early for fans of the iconic Scottish band Texas as they release a brand new single, “Hi,” featuring old friends Wu-Tang Clan. The accompanying video - directed by Fenn O’Meall - stars up and coming British actor Kadeem Ramsay who recently appeared in the UK TV series Top Boy and Steve McQueen’s Small Axe.

“Hi” is an exhilarating slice of joy and offers the first glorious taste from Texas’ forthcoming album, the beloved band’s first release since 2017. It’s also the first new music from Wu-Tang Clan in three years.

Listen To “Hi” & Watch The Video HERE
“Hi” Video

“Hi” finds a soulful Sharleen Spiteri nestled next to boisterous raps from RZA and Ghostface Killah over a cinematic backdrop of lush beats and acoustic guitar. It was RZA who suggested the reunion after meeting up with Sharleen in Glasgow, Scotland last year. The band’s previous Wu Tang collaboration had resulted in a groundbreaking remix of their 1997 mega-hit “Say What You Want” and a show stealing performance with Method Man at the 1998 BRIT Awards.

During their catch up in Scotland last year, a new track was mooted and Texas soon sent a version of “Hi” to Los Angeles where the Wu-Tang Clan sprinkled magic dust all over it.

A new Texas album, their tenth, will be released next year.

BASIA BULAT UNVEILS
NEW VIDEO FOR
“LOVE IS AT THE END OF THE WORLD”
FROM HER ALBUM
ARE YOU IN LOVE?

December 1, 2020—Singer-songwriter Basia Bulat shares the video for her song “Love is at the End of the World” today. The song is featured on her critically acclaimed album Are You in Love?, released in the spring via Secret City Records and produced by Jim James of My Morning Jacket. Watch/share the video, directed by Nora RosenthalHEREEXCLAIM! called “Love is at the End of the World” “one of Bulat's best.”
“It began as a prayer of gratitude to friends who helped me through one of my darkest moments,” explains Bulat. “It became a promise to myself to always choose love over fear. We filmed this video in February before the world changed a thousand times over.  It’s been such a hard year for so many – whenever I feel like the world is ending I know that at the same time so much love is being built into a new one.The video’s dancers—Eryn Tempest and Hanako Hoshimi-Caines—brought a special energy and a spirit of rebirth to the video. I worked with Nora Rosenthal and Brian Sokolowski on all the videos for this album, and I’m thankful for Nora’s beautiful direction on this one and Brian’s dancing while holding a really heavy camera!”
Bulat is a three-time Polaris Music Prize finalist and has been nominated for three JUNO Awards. She is known for her extensive touring and vibrant live shows that feature her powerful voice and multi-instrument skills – switching from piano, to autoharp, to charango, to guitar. Legendary guitarist Gary Lucas upcoming retrospective THE ESSENTIAL GARY LUCAS via Knitting Factory Records offers ample evidence of this maverick artist’s trailblazing and unique career, from his early work on stage and record with Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, to his landmark work with Jeff Buckley and his one-of-a-kind psychedelic jazz-rock band Gods and Monsters, though his extraordinary and extensive multi-genre solo catalogue – a truly epic body of work that spans psychedelic rock, film music, classical, electronica, jazz, blues, avant-garde, and world music excursions through 1930s Chinese pop, Hungarian folk, raga, and more, all unified by Lucas’s virtuosic guitar and ceaselessly questing spirit. The album originally scheduled for the Spring of 2020 is now slated to come out January 29, 2021.

A long overdue survey of a truly prodigious career, THE ESSENTIAL GARY LUCAS collects the artist’s own favorite work for the first time ever, including a range of rare and never-before released tracks. Boasting nearly 160 minutes of music, the double album includes a first CD devoted to songs recorded with GODS AND MONSTERS while the second CD compiles SOLO, RARITIES AND COLLABORATIONS. Special guests throughout include Jeff Buckley, Alan Vega (Suicide), David Johansen (New York Dolls), Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads), Ernie Brooks (Modern Lovers), Billy Ficca (Television), Nona Hendryx (Labelle), avant-legend Mary Margaret O’Hara, GRAMMY® Award-winning Cuban dance heroes Los Van Van, UK dubmaster Adrian Sherwood, Rolo McGinty (The Woodentops), mainland Chinese vocalist/erhu virtuoso Feifei Yang, French diva Elli Medeiros, Cuban legends Haydee and Suylen Milanés, Hungarian folk star Enikö Szabó, Indian shamaness Najma Akhtar, and others. Consistently compelling, endlessly inventive, and always impossible to pigeonhole, THE ESSENTIAL GARY LUCAS affirms Gary Lucas among the most singular musicians and artists of this or any era.

Born and raised in Syracuse, NY Gary Lucas began playing guitar at the age of 9. While a student at Yale University in 1971 he witnessed Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band perform their first-ever show in New York City, an experience that changed his life. Before the decade was through, Lucas’ individualistic virtuosity had in return caught the Captain’s attention and the young guitarist was unleashed as featured soloist and later, full Magic Band member, on the final two Beefheart albums, 1980’s DOC AT THE RADAR STATION and 1982’s ICE CREAM FOR CROW. Lucas established himself as an unparalleled accompanist in the years following Beefheart’s (Don Van Vliet) retirement from music, performing as special guest on albums by Adrian Sherwood, Matthew Sweet, and The Woodentops, while also earning applause for his solo concerts at NYC’s Knitting Factory, a haven for avant-garde and alternative music. 1990 saw the long awaited release of Lucas’s first solo album, SKELETON AT THE FEAST, earning immediate critical acclaim (including a 5-starred rave in Q Magazine). Lucas simultaneously founded his one-of-a-kind avant-jazz-rock group Gods and Monsters, which included among its many members a rising young artist named Jeff Buckley, with whom he co-wrote and performed such now-classic anthems as “Grace” and “Mojo Pin,” both of course found on Buckley’s milestone 1994 debut, GRACE.

Lucas has since gone on to release over 30 acclaimed albums in his own right, performing on 50 more. An inveterate traveler, he has performed live in more than 40 countries thus far, spanning China, Russia, India, Australia, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Japan, and more. Indeed, Lucas remains among the most in-demand artists and accompanists in modern music, his ever-expanding CV boasting collaborations with legends like Leonard Bernstein and Chris Cornell to Los Van Van and Lou Reed, composing and performing more than a dozen live film scores, and playing his guitar before the General Assembly of the United Nations on International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2017. Amongst his many honors, Lucas has received the U.S. Consul General's Award for Cultural Diplomacy, Italy’s prestigious Premio Ciampi Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting, and was recently named Artist in Residence at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in the UK. Check out Gary Lucas’ entire biography here.

OFFICE ROMANCE: "MAGIC IN THE AIR"
“Magic In The Air” is taken from Office Romance’s debut album Holidays of Love which is out now via Frenchkiss Records. A true family affair, the single features vocal contributions by Butler/Carlson's children, Lyla and Nigel, as well as the Jabour twins, Teddy and William.  The album was produced by Geoff Sanoff and his kids Alexei and Jesse contributed  background vocals as well.

With a plethora of holiday music that focuses on reproductions of the standards by modern artists, Office Romance has created a new set of holiday tracks that will prove to be as timeless as those by Bing Crosby, Wham! and John Lennon.  The 10-track LP also features a Hanukkah song that is sure to add a flame to celebrations around the world.

Holidays Of Love is the follow up to Office Romance’s 2012 EP I love The Holidays.  Last year the band regrouped and began writing and recording with producer Geoff Sanoff (James Iha, Jesse Mailn, Savak) but it took the isolation of Covid for them to generate the lyrics and vocals that capture the true spirit of the holiday season as told by Office Romance.  Other contributors include Matt Hitt, (Drowners), Fraser Campbell (multi-hyphenate musician and composer), Britta Phillips (LunaDean & Britta) and Kia Warren/Liza Colby (SUSU Band) among others.
