The live shows will see the original PIL bassist and The Invaders Of The Heart line up of Marc Layton-Bennett (drums & percussion), George King (keyboards) & Martin Chung (guitar) perform a set of new tracks together with some of his finest solo, Invaders Of The Heart and Public Image Limited output from an incredible and genre bursting career that spans over forty years.

Smoke Fairies Release New Single 'Elevator'
New Album: Darkness Brings The Wonders Home Out 1/31/20
'Smoke Signals' Podcast #1 in Apple Podcasts Music Commentary

December 4th, 2019, New York NY/London, UK:  Smoke Fairies release a new single today entitled 'Elevator.' This is the third single from their forthcoming album Darkness Brings The Wonders Home set for release January 31st, 2020.

Katherine Blamire explains the concept behind the track: “Someone said to me ‘I never say goodbye in elevators’ and then the doors rolled shut and I whizzed off upwards. The exchange spurred this song - there is no way of knowing what is going on in someone else’s mind and sometimes it just feels like you’re kind of lost, like being in an elevator stuck between floors, trying to figure them out”.
“The song is set in Hollywood. How many weird exchanges, miscommunications and career breaks and falls must have taken place inside of Hollywood elevators?”
The riff-heavy track debuted on Marc Riley's BBC 6Music show last night and also saw a spin on John Kennedy's Radio X Show.

Smoke Fairies also recently unveiled their new video for 'Disconnect' directed by Annick Wolfers. "The video was a really simple idea encapsulating how your everyday domestic world gets turned upside down when someone gets inside your head - how your normal world goes slightly askew and there is a sense of strangeness to everything you normally go about doing "  Katherine Blamire

Smoke Fairies recently played a sell-out single launch at The Social in association with Rough Trade to celebrate the release of a limited edition 7”. The song landed at #3 in the UK Vinyl Singles chart, surrounded by ColdplayQueen and Kate Bush. They will play additional UK dates (below) in February just after the release of Darkness Brings The Wonders Home.  The ladies will also appear on John Kennedy Radio X with an interview and live session on January 28th.

Also keeping the band busy is the new podcast 'Smoke Signals'  launching to a great response upon the release, ranking in the Top 10 in Music on Apple Podcasts#1 in the Music Commentary category in fact, beating Dolly Parton & Robert Plant. Check it out here: https://smarturl.it/smokesignalspodcast

Smoke Fairies are Jessica Davies and Katherine Blamire who first met at school in their native England. For this LP they traveled to our side of the pond in Seattle to record Darkness Brings The Wonders Home with producer Phil Ek (The Black Angels, Fleet Foxes, The Shins) and over the course of a rigorous month-long session, adopted a purposely intimate approach to achieving a singular sonic tone.

In the making of Darkness Brings The Wonders HomeSmoke Fairies drew inspiration from mysteries both real and imagined: sea monsters, flocks of crows taking flight in extravagant formation, strange creatures dwelling in the mud near their new South London abode.

Smoke Fairies were the first UK act to release a single on Jack White's label Third Man Records and was produced by White who also played guitar and drums. Other notable recordings include a cover of Neil Young’s Alabama’  from his Harvest LP which appeared on a special Mojo album to mark the approaching fortieth anniversary of the album.  Jessica and Katherine also contributed vocals to the track Valentina', a tribute to Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space on The Race For Space, the second album by Public Service Broadcasting.  The band has toured this side of the Atlantic with Laura MarlingRasputina, and most recently Blitzen Trapper and Dawes. More U.S. shows to be announced at a later date.

“RIDING SOLO” OUT NOW VIA MOM + POP

Previous praise for Hinds:

"Hard-sparkling guitars and [Hinds'] out-of-towners’ approach to English make the band’s classic indie references seem fresh again...their second LP is a gem of indie-rock-revivalism, making faux-naif surf licks and Mo Tucker drum beats seem new all over again." - Rolling Stone (4/5 stars)

"[Hinds'] second album displays the superior songcraft of the band, as vocalists Ana Perrote and Carlotta Cosials wade through love’s messy feelings with confidence and exuberance."
- Pitchfork

“Hinds has an excellent grip on its particular brand of hazy, jangly music, and uses the razor's edge between mellow and melancholy to maximum effect. They wield their tools with the easy confidence of beginners without sounding like amateurs.” – NPR Music

“Though recorded in southern Spain, the lo-fi tracks, with lyrics in English, have a distinctly American garage-rock feel.” – New York Times: T Magazine

“a short, jangly collection of infectiously energetic pop songs that sound like someone ran a '60s girl group through a shredder.” – The Cut

“Leave Me Alone...showcases a knack for better songwriting than a lot of their peers, lo-fi nostalgia that isn't just lazy imitation, and, best of all, a bright future ahead. I'm excited about this band. Get excited, too.” – Vulture
Madrid’s own Hinds have been on a meteoric rise since the release of their breakout debut album Leave Me Alone in 2016, which was followed by last year’s critically acclaimed I Don’t Run. Smashing all expectations for a band from Spain, Hinds have earned praise from the likes of The New York Times, NPR Music, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone, performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, won over crowds at festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury, and have even started their own limited edition cruelty-free makeup line, all while working harder, smarter and faster than their male contemporaries to break the ceiling. Now, the band returns to end the year on a high note, releasing their first song of 2019 via Mom + Pop.

“Riding Solo” finds Hinds at their absolute best yet. A band that has grown as musicians before our eyes, Hinds take a massive leap in songwriting and production to craft one of their catchiest songs ever that still remains quintessentially Hinds. “feeling lonely is one of the most common human feelings, right?” Hinds ask. “well, being a musician doesn’t really help. your whole life is constantly moving and the only thing that remains is yourself. and dealing with yourself, oh gosh, we all know how boring and angering that can be. ‘riding solo’ is about this. about us. perpetually on the move, being everywhere and nowhere at the same time. surrounded by strangers most time of the day, being 9 hours time difference from our people and what we call home, living and dying por y para la música.” Listen to the song and watch the Keane Pearce Shaw-directed video HERE

DUA LIPA ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM FUTURE NOSTALGIA

DUA LIPA

ANNOUNCES

FORTHCOMING ALBUM TITLE

AND 2020 EUROPEAN ARENA TOUR

NEW YORK, December 2, 2019 - Global pop superstar Dua Lipa has revealed the name of her eagerly awaited forthcoming album Future Nostalgia due for release in 2020.

The lead track from the album, “Don’t Start Now,” is already a massive hit worldwide with over 170 million streams to date. Already an iTunes Global #1, the track is also Top 10 European Radio and climbing and Top 20 US Radio and climbing. Her show stopping award performances of “Don’t Start Now” at The EMA’s, The AMA’s and The ARIA’s have dazzled and delighted millions of viewers and fans everywhere.

Speaking about Future Nostalgia Dua explains, “What I wanted to do with this album was to break out of my comfort zone and challenge myself to make music that felt like it could sit alongside some of my favorite classic pop songs, whilst still feeling fresh and uniquely mine. I was inspired by so many artists on the new record from Gwen Stefani to Madonna to Moloko to Blondie and Outkast, to name just a few.”

Dua continues, “Because of the time that I’d spent on the road touring with my band I wanted Future Nostalgia to have a lot more of a live element, but mixed together with modern electronic production. My sound has naturally matured a bit as I’ve grown up but I wanted to keep the same pop sensibility as I had on the first record. I remember that I was on my way to a radio show in Las Vegas thinking about the direction for this new record and I realized that what I wanted to make was something that felt nostalgic but had something fresh and futuristic about it too.”

Dua has also announced her massive Future Nostalgia 2020 European Arena Tour - which starts in Madrid on April 26th and visits 19 cities across Europe and the UK ending in Dublin on June 19th.

Tickets for the tour go on sale Friday 6th December at 9:00 am local time, excluding Spain who will be on sale Thursday 5th December at 9:00 am local time. Fans should purchase tickets from official outlets only and information will be found on the DUA LIPA website. VIP packages including “Dua’s House Party” will be available from https://vipnation.eu/Dualipa

Measures are being taken to prevent touting of tickets for Dua fans with named tickets in the UK, fan to fan resale options and ticket purchase limits. A Charity donation will be added to all tickets and proceeds will go to Unicef and Sunny Hill Foundation.

NIGHTMARES ON WAX SMOKERS DELIGHT - 25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

Nightmares on Wax announces Smokers Delight 25th Anniversary tour

Nightmares On Wax will return in April, 2020 on a worldwide tour in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of his seminal album - Smokers Delight. A defining record of the mid 90s which set Nightmares on Wax on their own musical trajectory, Nightmares main man George Evelyn will be rekindling his much-loved downbeat blend of soul, hip-hop, dub and timeless club sounds, start to finish, with a full orchestrated live show next year.
He says “It’s amazing that i’m talking about my album Smoker Delight 25 years later! To say this will be an honour to perform this album live in its entirety at this point in my life right now, is an understatement. I’ve had so many incredible experiences from releasing music throughout my career, but let me share the fact that this album changed my life and opened me up to new opportunities of how I could produce music going forward. I am forever grateful for this moment in my life, bringing this back to the stage with such a special live show is going to be delightful on many levels.”
Smokers Delight was one of a handful of records to define a generation along with Massive Attack's Blue Lines, Portishead's Dummy and Tricky's Maxinquaye. It took George Evelyn from his electronic-genre-blending debut 1991’s A Word of Science, into releasing the iconic downtempo, soul and hip hop material for which he has become renowned. Music lovers from around the world were intoxicated by this bassy, afterhours sound that became the backdrop to a million late-night living room sessions. Smokers Delight managed to capture that feeling and add a dash of light to the darkness, changing the musical landscape for Nightmares and the still young Warp label forever.
Evelyn’s recent output includes the critically and commercially acclaimed Nightmares on Wax Back to Mine compilation, released earlier this year, which saw him take the helm of the compilation for its 20th Anniversary, and his long-awaited eighth album Shape The Future [2018]. Energized by a recent run of globetrotting DJ sets, including residencies in Ibiza and London, Nightmares on Wax’s return will also hold some surprises. Please see dates below and keep an eye out for further announcements in the new year.
