The video is shot against the hills of LA, with the eerie light of dusk casting a shadow across proceedings, this first video introduces how Nikki Pink became a Lost Girl, in the last few weeks, tantalizing clues have been laid in video and photograph form and the mysterious Lost Girls phone line was inundated with strange and intriguing #batphoners messages about Nikki’s whereabouts.

Spanning 10 tracks, Lost Girls sees Khan dreaming up her own fully formed parallel universe, creating an off-kilter coming of age film in which gangs of marauding female bikers roam our streets and teenagers make out on car hoods. In this video we delve deeper into a nocturnal feminine world and touch on themes of love between characters from different universes.  The women of Lost Girls are parallel to one of Khan’s previous female protagonists, the street tough, darkness-driven Pearl, from her 2009 lauded album Two Suns. Within the women of Lost Girls and the character Nikki Pink, Khan unfolds elements of herself; within these songs, we do the same.  Lost Girls is an album full of romance, a homage to Los Angeles, to being a kid in the 80’s, to films that touched and changed her life. It mixes sounds she’s always loved -- heavy bass lines, synth arpeggios, Iranian pop beats, cascading choruses -- with some of her finest songwriting to date. The deliciously upbeat first single “Kids in the Dark” sets the scene, with its opulent haze of 80’s synths and stuttering disco beats, but nothing in this topsy-turvy world is quite as it seems. “In year 4 there was an older kid who was into Rammstein,” explains Stu of his early discover discovery of metal’s extremities. “I made friends with him and we put together a performance at our school assembly where we headbanged to ‘Du Hast’. I got whiplash, which I thought was pretty cool. That was my introduction to heavy metal, and soon Rammstein led to Metallica, Metallica led to Slayer, Slayer led to Kreator and Sodom. The German bands really kicked my ass and scared the hell out of me too. Later on, when I picked up a guitar I realised that shit was too hard to play, so I got into rock ‘n’ roll and garage. That was liberating.”

Alessandro Cortini has announced a brand new album, VOLUME MASSIMO – his first for Mute – will be released September 27 on vinyl, CD and digital formats. Alessandro Cortini’s music – both in his solo work and as a member of Nine Inch Nails – casts the listener into an intricately rendered vortex of emotive dynamics where he expertly maximizes the boundaries of contemporary electronic music. The new album, VOLUME MASSIMO, combines his fondness for melody with the rigor of experimental practice that strikes a balance between analog composition and cathartic dissonance, creating a momentous continuation of the aching electronics that he’s renowned for. Cortini’s acclaimed 2017 album, Avanti, was supported by a series of lauded live audio-visual performances structured around an intimate presentation from his family’s private film archive. VOLUME MASSIMO picks up directly from its predecessor – the whisper of their voices slip to the surface on the album’s opener, “Amore Amaro,” rendering an echo of the previous release, a coda detached and adrift. From here, VOLUME MASSIMO takes flight, journeying into a meditative process that gently twists time and memory in its wake with a deftly arranged ensemble of synthesizers saturated with sonic artifacts. Often the foreground is luscious, and hints at Cortini’s pop sensibilities, as the background takes us down a vast melancholic maze. Perhaps surprisingly, his latest work is interspersed with guitar motifs that act as a subtle punctuation for the oneiric landscapes that shimmer before us. “BATTICUORE” is an exquisite and dizzying carousel that folds some of Cortini’s bolder guitar work into a glorious pop epic, while “LA STORIA” ascends the same heights via a different route, pitch-shifting and layering a synthetic lead with a finely tuned noisescape before giving way to the mournful grind of “SABBIA.” Presented with richly saturated imagery by Emilie Elizabeth and Raki Fernandez, VOLUME MASSIMO is a work as confident as it is tender, as shown on its cover. Never falling prey to needless elaboration or digression, Cortini composes with a determined will to take what is felt through music as a map for life’s journey. The Hangmen set to release "Cactusville" on August 23rd

THE HANGMEN set to release "Cactusville"  via Acetate Records on August 23rd The L.A. underground Rock legend's 7th studio album

"It's The Hangmen he wanted to kill... we got run out of Cactusville," laments Bryan Small on the album's title track of The Hangmen's seventh album. Flanked by longtime members Jimmy James (guitar), Angelique Congleton (bass) and newcomer Jorge Disguster (drums), Small recollects the harrowing tale of a gig in Tuscon promoting their major label debut. "It was such a formative trip for us as a young band. There was death, drugs, booze, guns, girls and rock n' roll... and we met some new friends along the way."   One friend in particular, Eddie Spaghetti of the Supersuckers remembers the gig well, "They pulled up in a perfectly shitty van and proceeded to literally fall out of it. I know that one of them immediately puked in the parking lot. Combine all the L.A. coolness of the dudes with the songs and, oh my god, no one could touch them. The fucking SONGS. Right out of the gate I was struck by the patient, laid back-ness of their rock-n-roll ways. They changed a lot about the way I thought about what a band should be and how songs should be delivered. They instantly became our heroes." The Hangmen were formed in Los Angeles in 1986 and immediately caught the eye of Black Flag/Circle Jerks singer Keith Morris. Morris managed the band, and along with Bad Religion's Brett Gurewitz, produced the demos that landed them a deal with Capitol Records. They released their self-titled debut in 1987, but things soon came crashing down. A switch to DGC Records (the newly formed subsidiary of Geffen who's roster included The Nymphs, Nirvana, etc) seemed like the perfect landing spot for the band. Unfortunately, the album Suicide Doors was shelved and the band dissolved into addiction. Not one to be down for long, a newly sober Small started writing again, the result was 2000's Metallic I.O.U. Tours with longtime fans Social Distortion and the Supersuckers followed. Ness would later produce The Hangmen's 2007 release In the City. "I totally feel like we're kindred spirits," Small says looking back, adding that both bands emphasize "simplicity, and doing what you do and staying true to that." In 2010, the Finnish label Hype Records, Lost Rocks, an 18-song Hangmen retrospective. Shortly thereafter, former Supersucker, Rontrose Heathmen joined the band for 2012's critically acclaimed East Of Western. 2019 marks the release of Cactusville and another chapter of The Hangmen legend continues. Small has taken his brand of songwriting to another level, putting him in an artistic class with the likes of Tom Petty and Neil Young as purveyors of honest and simple songwriting. Side 2 of the LP features the Best Western Players, Bryan Small's countrified side project. In the same vein as Neil Young's "American Stars and Bars," the songs take on a different feel, with vocal harmonies and haunting pedal steel echoing throughout. It's familiar territory for Small, who grew up in rural Montana before making his way to Los Angeles. "The 'country' side of The Hangmen has been there from the start, it stems from the love of Gun Club, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, etc.," explains Small, "the Best Western Players were brought in to realize the songs as they were conceived."    The Hangmen will join Acetate Records label mates the Supersuckers on a rare East Coast US tour in September.
