OPERATORS Announce Release Date For New Album 'Radiant Dawn' Out May 17th via Last Gang Records

OPERATORS SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW ALBUM TRACK “I FEEL EMOTION”

RADIANT DAWN OUT MAY 17TH
NORTH AMERICAN TOUR BEGINS MAY 28TH

Operators, the synth-pop band have shared another new track, “I Feel Emotion”, off their forthcoming sophomore LP Radiant Dawn, out May 17th on Last Gang. The band, featuring Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits), Devojka, and Sam Brown (Divine Fits, New Bomb Turks), teamed up with directors Caleb Bardgett and Johnny Dunn for the song’s video, who explain that “its set in a world newly-devoid of human life, and these TV sets are the last artifacts of human emotion, playing loops from lost transmissions from some other space-time.” Listen to “I Feel Emotion” HERE and pre-order Radiant Dawn HERE.

Keyboardist Devojka further detailed the vision, “‘I Feel Emotion’ is a song for anyone who feels like they don’t know how to be alive in the world today. The video we made for ‘I Feel Emotion’ is compound nostalgia. It was inspired by a video installation I saw at an exhibition at MOMA called ‘Toward A Concrete Utopia, Architecture in Yugoslavia 1948-1980’. The installation was a stack of tv screens playing short loops taken from what looked to be old commercials and footage of people in various states of everydayness. As a first generation ex-Yugoslavian, I was surprised to find myself fascinated and moved; the intimacy of a woman ecstatically twirling with her purse flung on her shoulder in her smart and modern skirt completely arrested me. I come from a long line of pain, and I’ve been estranged from my family for some years now. Making the video was a way to connect to this heritage; something equally familiar and foreign to me. I combed through hours of footage from old Yugoslavian films looking for those intimate moments - the moments that happen between the BIG EVENTS in our lives.”

The album's nine tracks meld raw analog hardware with Boeckner's distinct voice to create an immersive cinematic sound. Operators previously released album track“Faithless”, a song Consequence of Sound called “darkly coruscating electropop cut with just a hint of ’80s psychedelia adding to the warmth, as solid a return single as anyone could hope for.” Interspersed between the tracks are instrumental intertitles that amplify the album’s 1970s sci-fi dystopian feel. For fans of Boeckner’s catalogue, Radiant Dawnfeels like the next logical step in the artist’s two decade career, while maintaining a completely fresh energy.

Radiant Dawn was written and recorded throughout 2018 and early 2019 in Montreal and Vancouver Island. Arcade Fire’s Tim Kingsbury played bass on the album’s closing track, “Low Life.” The album was co-produced by Wolf Parade's Arlen Thompson along with up and coming Montreal engineer Napster Vertigo. It was mastered by the Lodge’s Emily Lazar (on the heels of her 2019 Grammy® award win).

LA Weekly, after hearing a preview of the record, made it the album of the week nearly a month before its release, saying, “The first hints of greatness came with the release ofEP1 in 2014, followed by the debut full-lengther, Blue Wave, two years later. But it's the majesty of the 14 songs that fill Radiant Dawn that show just how far this group has come.”

Radiant Dawn Tracklist:
1.       Days
2.       I Feel Emotion
3.       Faithless
4.       (Public Void)
5.       In Moderan
6.       (Airlock)
7.       Terminal Beach
8.       (Object Sighting)
9.       Despair
10.     (Under Occupation)
11.     Come And See
12.     Strange
13.     (The Radiant Dawn)
14.     Low Life
Operators is a Montreal based project. The band released an EP (EP1) in 2014, and released their first LP (Blue Wave) in 2016, via Last Gang Records. While recording their sophomore LP, the members of the band kept busy with a series of other endeavors, including the promotional cycle around Wolf Parade’s Cry Cry Cry LP, a series of performances in which Operators played material from the Handsome Furs catalog (which all sold out in less than six hours), and Boeckner’s original song for the critically acclaimed 2018 film Mandy.

Operators also recently announced an extensive North American summer tour, kicking off May 28th at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall and hitting venues across the US through July. You’ll be able to catch their electric live set when they headline LA’s Teragram Ballroom, NYC’s Bowery Ballroom, and more. Combo Chimbita Release Mystical New Album 'Ahomale' Today, On Nationwide Tour Now

TROPICAL FUTURISTS COMBO CHIMBITA RELEASE MYSTICAL NEW ALBUM ‘AHOMALE’ TODAY

ON NATIONWIDE HEADLINING TOUR NOW

LISTEN TO FIERY NEW TRACK “Revelación (Candela)” HERE

“From Bogotá to Brooklyn, this adventurous four-piece has mapped a
tropical futurist’s dream of spacey electronics, new-wave cumbia and good
old-fashioned garage rock.” - Relix

“The quartet, fronted by lead singer Carolina Oliveros, puts on a transcendent, incredibly fun show. Oliveros, energetic and unstoppable, alternately belts and chants, displaying a full range from priestess to hype woman.” — The Daily Beast

Based in New York City by way of Colombia, the visionary quartet Combo Chimbita has released their new album Ahomale today; listen to it HERE. Ahomale is not only the album’s title but its ancestral muse, fusing folkloric mystique, otherworldly psychedelia and a dash of enigmatic punk; the record is Combo Chimbita’s sophomore effort and first for ANTI- Records.

“Ahomale resurges from the visions that we’ve been having via our music and life, and the lyrics reflect a manifestation passed on through our ancestors and the gods,” lead singer Carolina Oliveros explains. “I wanted the album to convey the search for spiritual awareness, which ultimately serves as a revelation.”

Combo Chimbita is comprised of Oliveros’ mesmeric contralto, illuminating storytelling and fierce guacharaca rhythms, Prince of Queens’ hypnotic synth stabs and grooving bass lines, Niño Lento’s imaginative guitar licks, and Dilemastronauta’s powerful drumming. It is with these sonic elements that the lure and lore of Combo Chimbita comes into existence.

With the help of producer Daniel Schlett (The War on Drugs, Modest Mouse), the group’s rootsy experimental alchemy and metal strangeness take centerfold. Oliveros howls, yowls and chirps with gut-wrenching emotion; whether rock raw and soulful or bewitching like a shaman in a spiritual ceremony, her voice is always a multifaceted wonder.

Ultimately, Ahomale fuses the perennial rhythms of the Afro-Latinx diaspora with a modern-day consciousness, while tracing the prophetic traditions of our ancestry. “Our spirit and energy have passed through multiple generations,” says Prince of Queens. “We might not be open or allowed to explore it because of Western society’s conditions. But the idea is that we are receiving messages from the past, and from our ancestors that each one of us carries.”

In nearly 40 minutes of eye-opening thrills and chills, the listener experiences the pedagogy of Ahomale, journeying through her epiphanies and enlightenment. “Ahomale is a warrior, not the sword and shield type, but a woman who is ready to listen to her heart, follow her intuition and connect with her ancestors,” Oliveros avows.

Simon Bonney Releases "Past, Present, Future"; Tour With Mark Lanegan Begins Sunday

SIMON BONNEY

RELEASES PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE ALBUM TODAY

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “DON’T WALK AWAY FROM LOVE”

TOUR DATES WITH MARK LANEGAN BEGIN SUNDAY
Credit: Jeff Andersen (hi-res)
"Bonney’s songs of existential woe, institutional ruination and personal anguish are presented with the dusty heat of a Morricone soundtrack or Dylan’s creaking abstractions from the ‘70s." – PASTE

Simon Bonney is to me one of the greatest artists of our time. His lyrics, melodies, phrasing and songs are beautiful, mysterious, powerful and lovely. His records have been a constant inspiration and companion to me for years and years. One of my favorite singers ever. Thank god he's back.” - Mark Lanegan
Simon Bonney has released his compilation album Past, Present, Future today on Mute.  Past, Present, Future includes songs from his last two albums, Forever (1992) and Everyman (1994), as well as six new tracks for an unreleased album titled Eyes of Blue. Simon has also released the re-mastered video for his song “Don't Walk Away From Love.” Watch and share the video here. Stream and purchase Past, Present, Future here.

Reflecting on the message found in “Don’t Walk Away From Love,” Bonney says, “In a relationship you can focus on the positive or you can focus on the negative. The one you feed the most will define that relationship. ‘Don’t Walk Away From Love’ is about embracing the positive.”

Beginning Sunday in Nashville, Bonney will embark on a tour of the Eastern United States alongside Mark Lanegan. See below for a full itinerary and purchase tickets here.

Past, Present, Future is the beautiful amalgamation of songs taken from two of Bonney’s previously released albums: 1992’s Forever, a deeply personal and intimate record, and 1994’s Everyman, his socio-political opus that has grown in relevance as rapid change and social dislocation has increased. Rounding out Past, Present, Future are a number of songs unearthed from Bonney’s lost album, Eyes of Blue.

Forever and Everyman were recorded during Bonney’s time living in the US while his band Crime & the City Solution remained on hiatus. At this time, he turned to the melancholy and plaintive sounds of dobro and lap steel of 1970s country music. In these sounds he found a feeling of longing for the familiar, for security and stability, songs about family and belonging, memories of a childhood farm in Tasmania. The result was two country-tinged, compassionate and prescient portraits of life in late 20th Century America through Tasmanian eyes.

Bonney’s path led him into outback Australia, Micronesia, Papua New Guinea and Bangladesh – a life rich in extremes of color and conflict, of trauma, of humanity and inhumanity, of power and powerlessness. It was not always easy to witness and eventually, as happens with all that walk this road, he had seen too much and it was time to stop. It was time to re-embrace something simple, something personal – his music. He pulled tapes from shoeboxes and listened to the old albums as well as tracks that were destined for an unreleased album, Eyes of Blue, which was recorded in Detroit with a band featuring Matt Smith(Outrageous Cherry, the Volbeats), Troy Gregory (the Dirtbombs, Electric Six, Killing Joke) and a guest appearance by Chuck Prophet. As he revisited these earlier recordings, Bonney found that they sounded fresh and every bit as relevant – if not more relevant –  than when he had recorded them.

Past, Present, Future Tracklisting

Sebadoh Release Video For New Song "sunshine"

First Album in Six Years Act Surprised out May 24 via Dangerbird Records

Tour Kicks off May 22

May 3, 2019: Indie-rock pioneers Sebadoh will release their first new studio album in more than six years Act Surprised on May 24th via Dangerbird Records. Today, the band shared the video for their new song "sunshine," the fourth song to be released from their forthcoming album.

Watch the video for "sunshine" via YouTube:

Lou Barlow explains, "'sunshine' is about going inside. Giving up, for the moment, on finding answers in nature or social rituals. Going inside, where I feel safe, and finding strength in intimacy."

Act Surprised continues the soulful collaboration that's defined the band since 1991's Sebadoh III and 1994's BakesaleThe new batch of songs reaffirms how vital the creative partnership is between members Lou BarlowJason Loewenstein, and Bob D'Amico.

When Barlow recently moved back to his home state of Massachusetts following a series of personal changes, he pressed the restart button and, in time, felt the incentive to reach out to Jason and Bob again to reunite and start work on a new album. The trio convened and began recording in their original stomping grounds in western Massachusetts where they first formed back in 1988. Along with producer/sound engineer Justin Pizzoferrato, Sebadoh have delivered one of the best records of their career. Act Surprised is a 15-song collection that's as dynamic and visceral as anything the band has ever committed to tape.

Sebadoh shared the news of their new album with the release of lead single "celebrate the void" which received acclaim from PitchforkThe New York Times, and Rolling Stone, who called it called it "a brooding head-nodder." The FADER called "stunned" a "...scuzzy, paranoid-sounding song, underpinned by Jason Loewenstein's weary snarl."

NYC ALBUM RELEASE SHOW SOLD OUT2nd NYC BOWERY BALLROOM SHOW ADDED
+ NEW SHOWS ANNOUNCED INCL. DC, LA, AND SF (SEE BELOW)

New York, NY, May 3, 2019: Following a triumphant west coast run this week which saw Holy Ghost!play to sold-out crowds in San Francisco and Los Angeles, the NYC-based duo of  Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser shareDo This (out today) off their upcoming album Work out June 21st on West End Records and announce select North American tour dates including adding a 2nd night in NYC at Bowery Ballroom for album release.

Do This”, a buoyant, sun-infused jam, is the fourth track revealed off the band’s first new album in five years - and first full-length LP to come out on the iconic West End Records label in more than 30-years.

"This song is about sticking to our guns, going after what we always have, and believing that music fans still want more than Diplo's latest cultural co-opt," says Holy Ghost! frontman Alex Frankel. "There's a data epidemic in the music industry. Everyone is obsessed with likes, stream counts, "the algorithm" etc... For a band like us, who like to take our time in the studio  and perform with a live band and make actual records from scratch, it starts to really bum you out when people around you are more  focused on Instagram stats and ‘reactions’ than the music. At certain times it can feel like: what’s the point of doing this anymore? Thank god we have a small group of people we love and trust that we work with and really great fans that keep us motivated."

The new single follows previously released album tracks including breakout tune "Epton On Broadway (Part I & Part II)”, “Anxious” (which Earmilk dubbed “glorious”), and “Escape From Los Angeles”  (“Shiny keys and energetic disco vibes… profound, even at its most wild.” says Consequence of Sound).

A return to the heady ethos that drove Holy Ghost!’s earliest releases, Work (available for pre-order now) sees New York City natives Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser revisit the freedom from expectations that suffused their 2011 self-titled debut full-length. Featuring the talents of musical peers including Sinkane’s Ahmed Gallab, Juan Maclean and LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy WhangRob Moose (Bon Iver, Paul Simon, David Bowie) and Alex Epton (Neon Indian, David Byrne)Work transcends its physical constraints to capture a spectrum of vibes that remain true to Holy Ghost!’s reverence for the art and craft of dance music. In addition to the tracks noted above, the 12-song collection includes standouts such as“Nicky Buckingham”  with Fleetwood Mac-inspired riffs and swelling strings and “Heaven Knows What” - the band’s slowest track to date - which showcases an emotional depth and range only hinted at in past releases.

The juxtaposition of organic and metropolitan is embodied in the album’s cover image  Wheatfield - A Confrontation: Battery Park Landfill, Downtown Manhattan – The Harvest, 1982 by renowned conceptual artist Agnes Denes.
