Today First Aid Kit released “Fireworks,” the latest track from their forthcoming album Ruins – listen here. First Aid Kit says: "We're so excited to finally share ‘Fireworks.’ It's a track that we put a lot of emotions into. We love the arrangement we created for it with our producer Tucker Martine, borrowing from classic 50's ballads and mixing it with Twin Peaks-guitars and synths. It's a song about the ideals you set for yourself in life and how they can break you down, leaving you all alone at the end. "

First Aid Kit will release Ruins, their fourth studio album, on January 19 via Columbia Records. Produced by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Laura Veirs), the album was recorded in Portland, OR where the duo collaborated with amazing musicians — REM’s Peter Buck, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche, and Midlake’s McKenzie Smith. Ruins is available for pre-order now and includes lead single “It’s A Shame” as well as“Postcard” and “Fireworks.” See full tracklisting below.

First Aid Kit will embark on a 2018 North American headline tour, kicking off January 24 at the Fox Theatre in Oakland and continuing through a final night at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, with Van William supporting. Tickets are on sale now, visithttp://www.firstaidkitband.com/ for more information. The band toured the U.S. this fall, having performed at both Austin City Limits and San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festivals, check out their performance of “It’s A Shame” at ACL HERE. First Aid Kit also played additional shows in Los Angeles and Austin before ending their US trip with a sold-out show at New York City’s Town Hall.

Ruins follows the 2014 release of Stay Gold, a lush and ambitious 10-song collection that beautifully captures the duo's vivid storytelling, landing First Aid Kit countless “Best of 2014” accolades. Earlier this spring, First Aid Kit also released a stand-alone single on International Women’s Day entitled "You Are The Problem Here."  It is an empowered, passionate, and angry song that confronts the rape culture epidemic, with a portion of proceeds donated to Women for Women International.

CINDY WILSON (OF THE B-52’S) FIRST-EVER SOLO ALBUM, CHANGE, OUT TODAY

CINDY WILSON’S FIRST-EVER SOLO ALBUM, CHANGE, OUT TODAY
ON TOUR NOW
PERFORMING AT A BROOKLYN PLANNED PARENTHOOD BENEFIT
DECEMBER 6 WITH KAKI KING, AMY RIGBY AND OTHERS

Cindy Wilson of the legendary B-52s releases her first-ever solo album, CHANGE (Kill Rock Stars), today. Produced by Suny Lyons at The Space Station in Athens, CHANGE is as bold as anything in Wilson's groundbreaking four-decade canon, melding future pop, disco drama, American standards, electronica, and more into her own distinctive creative vision. New songs like "Mystic" and the transformative title track are intricate and inventive, lush and luminous with strings, synthesizers, harmonies, and Wilson's utterly distinct vocal magic. Further highlights include a pair of unexpected covers: New Colony Six's soft rock classic, "Things I'd Like to Say," and "Brother," written and originally performed by Athens' own beloved Oh-OK. With CHANGE, Cindy Wilson has once again remade pop in her own innovative, irresistible image.

Known the world over as a vocalist, songwriter, and founding member of the one and only B-52s, CHANGE began for Wilson nearly a decade ago upon her part-time return to her hometown of Athens, GA. She first encountered local multi-instrumentalist Ryan Monahan and drummer Leumuel Hayes when their Beatles tribute band was hired to play her son's birthday party. Wilson, Monahan and Hayes began teaming up for gigs, performing classic garage and psychedelic covers, before ultimately hitting the studio to create new music all their own. Athens-based producer/ musician Lyons was soon enlisted to join the group, resulting in the SUNRISE and SUPERNATURAL EPs, acclaimed by Popmatters for possessing “an undeniable sense of adventure.”
Last week, Wilson shared the video for "Brother,” directed by the great film and video director Lance Bangs. It was shot mostly in Jeremy Ayers backyard in Athens, GA. Ayers is an Athens arts legend famous for writing the iconic song "52 Girls" from the B-52's first album. The video also feature Iron & Wine Sam Beam's old bicycle.

Billboard premiered the song "No One Can Tell You, “ saying, "It's hard to believe this is the first solo album Wilson is putting out throughout the entirety of her career," notes Billboard, adding, "With CHANGE, Wilson was able to experiment with her own creativity and learn about music in an entirely different light. The result is something melodic, calm even, and at times fueled by disco- tinged rhythms."

"Mystic" received its premiere via Stereogum, who claimed it, "an excellent slice of icy, synth-streaked new wave.” "With lush synths and a funky motorik rhythm section, 'Mystic' is a celestial wave of chill," raved NPR Music. "Wilson's voice is still a tease, perfectly suited to the Gary Numan-indebted cool the band cultivates."

Wilson has been touring all summer and fall with additional dates to be announced soon. She and her band will be performing at the Planned Parenthood Benefit at Brooklyn’s Bell House on December 6. The remaining confirmed dates are below. For updates and more, please see killrockstars.com.

The Liminanas Announce New Album, Release Video

THE LIMIÑANAS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM TWISTING THE SHADOW PEOPLE
OUT JANUARY 19 ON BECAUSE MUSIC

FEATURING FRENCH ACTRESS
EMMANUELLE SEIGNER

“Sounds as if they have stepped out of Quentin Tarantino’s dreams…. a 60s-saturated stunner” - Uncut

“Garagey, soundtrack-infused psych, a swirl of pounding drums, spoken French, baroque melodies” -Mojo

"The Limiñanas stick to what they know — The Velvet Underground, Serge Gainsbourg, JAMC fuzz, ’60s soundtracks — but it always sounds effortless and cool”
Brooklyn Vegan

French psych duo The Limiñanas have announced new album Twisting the Shadow People, to be released January 19 on Because Music. They’ve just shared the video for “Shadow People,” a track taken from the recently released Istanbul Is Sleepy EP, which will also appear on their full length.

Directed by previous collaborator Aurelien Richter, the video features acclaimed French actressEmmanuelle Seigner, who also provides vocals on the track.

The video was shot in The Limiñanas' home studio in Cabestany in the South of France, and also features Foulke de Boixo, the dancing hero from previous video “Istanbul is Sleepy”, as well asRenaud Picard, who duets with Emmanuelle Seigner on the track.

Lionel from the band explains: "The shadow people are an American myth, they are described as furtive apparitions, comparable to ghosts observable from the corner of the eye. These "spirits" accompany throughout your all life, a sort of paranormal glue stuck to you...Emmanuelle Seigneradded: "A friend introduced me to The Limiñanas, I was in love with their Music. Three days before our first meeting, Lionel Limiñana called me and offered me to sing on one song off their new album. He sent me 'Shadow People'. Then we recorded directly at their home, it was fast, easy and pretty natural".

One of France’s most beloved cultural treasures, The Limiñanas are Marie (drums/vocals) and Lionel (guitar, bass, keyboards and vocals). Hailing from Perpignan, the duo straddles the boundary between psych, shoegaze, and yé-yé. With hazy, reverb-laden hooks, combined at times with noisy distortion, and fronted by effortlessly cool vocals, reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot, the band is at once timeless and quintessentially French.

New album Twisting the Shadow People was recorded and produced at The Brian Jonestown Massacre's Anton Newcombe's studio in Berlin.

4. Shadow People

Line & Circle's new EP is out today, watch a new music video starring Socrates

Line & Circle's new EP is out today, watch a new music video starring Socrates

VIDEO: "Vicious Folly" -
YouTube

Ohio-born, Los Angeles-based Line & Circle follows up their acclaimed singles and debut LP with their new EP Vicious Folly, out TODAY via Grand Gallop - it's now available on all platforms, includingSpotify / Apple / TIDAL / Bandcamp. Today they share the music video for the title track - watch it here.
Here's what the band had to say about how the video came about:
"The events of the past year got us thinking about other periods in history when it felt like society was betraying its best values. The trial and death of Socrates came to mind, when a society became so shaken by its fall from grace, that it turned on its own greatest thinker, blamed him for its decline, and then killed him. This became a bigger theme for the song and the whole record — how society’s painful struggle for advancement can sometimes lead people to violent actions they might not have otherwise considered."
Video by Brian J. Cohen; Additional editing by Eli Wanket
At a moment when societal divisions seem increasingly tense and tribalistic, Vicious Folly explores a belief the Romans held centuries ago: homo homini lupus — man is a wolf to man. Whether the conflicts here are romantic ("Man Uncouth"), ideological ("Vicious Folly"), or familial ("Who Runs Wild"), the songs contemplate the disquieting idea that man himself is his own greatest threat.
Vicious Folly brings the resulting emotional complexity to life by expanding on the band's characteristically moody but vibrant color palette. Interweaving bass clarinet pulses and distorted tape loops move underneath minimalist patterns of chiming guitar and bass melody counterpoint. Singer/guitarist Brian J. Cohen's dramatic tenor pulls across the songs' brisk rhythmic foundations, which are more unhinged here than in previous releases.
The bulk of the record was tracked live to tape in one day at Los Angeles' Vox Studios with Michael Harris (Angel Olsen's My Woman), with additional sessions in various warehouses, bedrooms, and backhouse studios around the band's Echo Park neighborhood. The project was mixed with frequent collaborator Jonathan Low (The National, The War On Drugs) at Aaron Dessner of The National's Long Pond studio in Hudson Valley, New York.
Vicious Folly's cover features Peter Flötner's 16th century hand-painted playing cards from post-Reformation Germany. Flötner used his cards to depict and denounce the perceived greed, gluttony, and folly of his time. That the imagery strikes a chord today — as it surely did then — is either deeply comforting, or incredibly disconcerting, depending on your information filter.
More about Line & Circle:

After arriving on the national scene in 2012, Line & Circleʼs “Roman Ruins” and “Mine Is Mine”singles, and eponymous EP, received wide acclaim, appearing on a range of year-end lists on both sides of the Atlantic. The band’s debut full length Split Figure arrived in 2015 and followed suit, appearing on The A.V. Club’s ballots for best albums and best singles (“Like A Statue”) of the year. Line & Circle has embarked on several U.S. tours, including appearances at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas and two stops at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, which featured a live radio broadcast for KEXP when the band was merely months old. Line & Circle soon began sharing stages with some of their favorite bands, including being hand-picked by The War On Drugs to support them at a sold-out show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles.
