of Montreal Shares "Last Rites at the Jane Hotel" Video

OF MONTREAL SHARES "LAST RITES AT THE JANE HOTEL" VIDEO VIA CREATORS PROJECT

ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

AURATE GLOOM AND SNARE LUSTROUS DOOMINGS  OUT NOW VIA POLYVINYL
"Out of his gloom Barnes manages to fashion something which shines and  soars and twists and gleams... Every song seems to journey through a multitude of genres and eras while remaining coherent."
-DIY Mag

"For 18 years, the journeyman artist has marched proudly, and often  alone, to the racket clattering in his head. Loud, fickle, and  impolite, Aureate Gloom is yet another entry into the evolution of one man's soul made manifest through music."
-AV Club

"Barnes' voice adopts a glittery, damaged glam rock tone that falls
right in with the musical palette."
-Pitchfork

of Montreal has had a big year so far.  They released their latest album Aureate Gloom, which landed at #88 on Billboard's Top 200 chart, and a new live album, Snare Lustrous Doomings, which featured 90 minutes of psychedelic pop and electronica that spans the band's career. Today, following the announce of their US fall tour, of Montreal is back to share a new video for their song "Last Rites at the Jane Hotel". The video's lead animator Matthew Cooper talked to the Creators Project about creating this stop motion piece, saying "The tone of the song's lyrics are quite dark... but the music has this technicolor and upbeat kind of tone to it so I think that's what I tried to do with the video. There's a lot of morbid elements. I tried to represent those very vivid, bubblegum sort of color schemes." Check out the new video and fall tour dates below.

Calvin on Super Future:

Super Future is a projection of my hopes & dreams, a snapshot into my life, a time capsule of work to reflect upon," says Calvin. "My vision highway to self- discovery through song, love, and experience. Driving the dream through the confound paths of outside influences & expectations. Keeping a straight line through the darkness, with only one headlight and knowing that the strange, the beautiful and the unknown are nothing but my best friend."

More about Calvin Love:

Only once with every blue moon comes an artist that seems so familiar yet out of space as Calvin Love. On Super Future, his first album for Arts & Crafts, the young charmer from Edmonton, Alberta, steeps songs of psychedelic wisdom in celestial sensuality. Calvin Love arrives an enigma, a strutting, crooning contradiction: as menacing as he is magnetic, like sex and murder wrapped together in a trench coat. With coolness that defies contrivance, Love links sounds and images of science-fiction vintage with an auspicious version of the future. The music drips with crystal aura, blending obsession with the beauty of artifice and the inner systems of real and natural things. It's this infallible match of the authentic to the inventive that make Calvin Love's Super Future so strange and inviting.

Calvin does it all with convincing ease, a crooked handsomeness belying his wide-eyed honesty and the curios experimentation of these tunes. First single "Daydream" makes landfall with near-tropical humidity: cavernous, scuttling drum lines echo Calvin's lilting vocals and stalactite guitar phrasing, exposing how nimbly he moves from sunny to gritty climes. The urgent "Creepin" races at a siren's pace, with bursts of fractured guitar framing its more primal, animistic, punk rock personality. The music is at all times seductive: disordered but intuitive, faulted if not feeling for just the right fractions of distortion and balladry. Performed and recorded entirely by Calvin Love at his Cool Creep Studios in Edmonton, Super Future distinguishes him from the lineage of hometown cronies like Mac Demarco, TOPS, Alex Calder, and Sean Nicholas Savage. Suave and demented, nostalgic and otherworldly, withSuper Future Calvin Love casts a black light shadow on the white of sun-soaked skies.

Looper Shares New Video for "I'm A Photograph," New Album and Boxset Out Now

LOOPER

SHARES NEW VIDEO

THESE THINGS 5 CD BOX SET
INCLUDING BRAND NEW ALBUMOFFGRID:OFFLINE
OUT NOW

Still from "I'm a Photograph"
Looper have created a video for the track “I’m a Photograph” from their new album Offgrid:Offline, using vintage band photos alongside fan photographs submitted for a recent contest with creative camera company Lomography. Contestants were asked to send in their 10 best summer shots for the chance to be included in a forthcoming video. The winners were announced last week.  Watch and share the winning entries set perfectly to the Looper track HERE.

Looper’s new album was recorded at their remote home in the countryside, a new set of songs and stories - inspired by the return to peace and quiet, and influenced by indie-folk music. Conscious of the very different styles of previous albums, Looper set out to bring together elements of each into this new work. Structured like the first album, around a recurring melody, Offgrid:Offline is thematically centred on the spoken word piece which gives the album its title, drawing together the musical motifs and lyrical themes from throughout.

Looper emerged from Belle & Sebastian in 1997, when Stuart David (co-founder and bass player of B&S) and his wife Karn (an artist who directed the early B&S videos) collaborated for a show at Glasgow School of Art. A degree show fundraiser for Stuart's sister Karla Black - who received a Turner Prize nomination in 2011- the performance was a multi-media affair incorporating TVs, super 8 film, 35mm slides and kinetic sculptures. Since nothing broke down and everyone clapped, they decided to keep doing it.

Looper also released a 5 CD retrospective box set, These Things, earlier this year. The box set collates tracks from their entire catalogue. In an inventive reinterpretation of 'The Boxset,' Looper have curated the database of their entire body of work as five separate CDs, themed by type and entitled lexiphonics, kinokraft, voxtrot, transmitte and melos.

THE BLACK RYDER ANNOUNCE WEST COAST SHOWS WITH VERY SPECIAL GUESTS

THE BLACK RYDER HEADLINE WEST COAST SHOWS WITH VERY SPECIAL GUESTS
PLUS ADDITIONAL DATES WITH THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN

"One of the highlights of the entire day had to be The Black Ryder's performance. Holy shit. I had been waiting to see this band for years, and everything finally came together as I stood in the very front of the Levitation tent." NOISEY

Having played in the U.K. and U.S. to promote the release of their new album, "The Door Behind The Door", with sold out shows in NYC and London, The Black Ryderwill be embarking on a run of headlining west coast dates in August. The band will also be re-joining The Jesus & Mary Chain on the second leg of their U.S. tour, following their previous critically acclaimed sold out North American dates together.

The Black Ryder have curated their upcoming headline shows with very Special Guests Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in San Francisco; The Vacant Lots and Tennis System in Los Angeles; and Rick Bain & The Genius Position in Portland.

The band has earned a reputation as a formidable live act, noted as a highlight of the Levitation festival in Austin by fans and media whilst performing alongside such iconic artists as Tame Impala, Primal Scream and Spiritualized. Their album, "The Door Behind The Door", has been praised as one of 2015's most significant releases, and with Jim Reid of the Jesus & Mary Chain in attendance at their compelling in-store performance at Amoeba Music in San Francisco and numerous accolades from the press, the allure of The Black Ryder is undeniable.

These are likely to be the last shows the band will play this year, and with fans, the media and The Jesus & Mary Chain voicing passionate praise from their recent live shows the opportunity to see The Black Ryder perform live should not be missed.

"The moaning feedback drone in "Seventh Moon" has the gorgeousness of a Neil Halstead lead, "Let Me Be Your Light" has a candy-kissed psychedelic swirl, strings and all, that serves as the perfect backdrop for Nash's whispery vocals, and "Until the Calm of Dawn" brings to mind the acid-fried Disneyfications of prime Mercury Rev, with a twinkly music box set against a sweeping orchestral arrangement."PITCHFORK

LOW "What Part of Me" (from 'Ones and Sixes')

+Newly Added Tour Dates

You can now hear Low’s “What Part of Me,” the group’s affecting new single and second track release from Ones and Sixes, their forthcoming album. The Quietus, had this to say of the track: “It's just over three minutes of the band's fuzzy, melodic charm, laying Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker's harmonised vocals over a slightly spectral setting (see song premiere August 3rd)."

Low’s previously announced North American and European tour in support of Ones and Sixes, begins September 18th in Madison, WI and ends November 21st in Seattle, WA. They’ll play their largest headlining date in London’s iconic Roundhouse on October 10th. And now, there are a few additional shows preceding and following the band’s fall trek:  Perfect Sound Forever Fest in Bergen, Norway (September 3rd); UK appearances at both the End of the Road and Electric Picnic Festivals  (September 4th-6th / select dates); and their newly rescheduled Philadelphia date at Johnny Brenda’s (February 1st). For up to date information on tickets please visithttp://chairkickers.com/shows.

Sub Pop will release Low’s Ones and Sixes on CD / LP / DL worldwide Friday, September 11th. The album, featuring the standouts “No Comprende” [listen here],  the aforementioned “What Part of Me,” “Gentle,” and “No End,” was co-produced by the band and engineer BJ Burton at Justin Vernon’s April Base Studios in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Low’s Ones and Sixes is available for pre-order from the Sub Pop Mega MartiTunesAmazon, and Bandcamp. The limited “Loser Edition” of the LP on yellow vinyl will be available from select independent stores and megamart.subpop.com (while supplies last). Coke Weed Shares New Track "Dead Man Walking"
Stream via The AV Club / Soundcloud

New LP Mary Weaver Out October 9th on
Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records (
 pre-order )
Coke Weed has announced the release of its fourth album, Mary Weaver, due outOctober 9th on Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records. The album features interweaving guitars, grooving rhythms, and smooth, haunting vocals, all while exploring dark themes of romantic and chemical alienation. For a first taste of the record, you can stream lead single "Dead Man Walking" -- which revisits the deserted club-land haunted by echoes of ESG, CAN, and the Chic Organization -- where it premiered with The AV Club or viaSoundcloud

Mary Weaver brings a new emphasis on grimy dance work-outs, incorporating elements of Bolan's boogie, the kraut/R&B hybrids of Bowie's Station to Station, and the desperate romanticism of Roxy Music and Iggy Pop. Lead singer Nina D.'s captivating vocals glide sweetly above washed out reverb, lending a softness to the album's hard-edged subject matter.

Mary Weaver is currently available for
pre-order.
