The tour marks midori's first performances on the continent, following a breakthrough year for the self-releasing, independent artist. Her latest EP '(Re)planted' has seen her audience grow rapidly, with tracks receiving support from KEXP, BBC Radio 6 Music's Introducing, BBC Radio 2's Jamie Cullum Jazz Show and BBC Radio 3's Round Midnight, alongside praise from The New York Times. An intimate acoustic performance of the EP's opening track "planted" also spread widely across social media, even catching the attention of Jamie Oliver, who shared the track with his followers.

* with Eivør Released in August, '(Re)planted' is the second in a pair of EPs exploring midori's experiences of migration, mixed cultural heritage and repeatedly having to put down roots in unfamiliar places. Drawing a parallel between the cello — once a living tree — and her own journey as a child uprooted several times, the EP sees her moving beyond the groove-led cello playing of its predecessor, '(Un)planted', towards something softer, more fluid and expansive. Across both releases, midori's music occupies a space between jazz, contemporary classical, folk and experimental pop, with cello and voice at its centre. Classically trained at London's Royal Academy of Music, she has developed a singular approach to the instrument, using it variously as rhythm section, harmonic foundation and melodic voice. Her music is intricate but instinctive, pairing visceral grooves with moments of extraordinary delicacy. Midori has collaborated with Imogen Heap, Patrick Watson, Christian Löffler, Daughter, Courtney Pine and Tanita Tikaram, but '(Re)planted' represents perhaps her most personal work to date. Recorded over ten intense days in Lisbon, she plays cello, bass synth, synth and cavaquinho, with drums by a close friend. The result is a deeply intimate body of work about displacement, identity and the search for somewhere to belong — music that, fittingly, is now beginning to travel far beyond the places in which it was made.
