Today [Friday, July 17], the darling of jungle Nia Archives unveils her thrilling second album Emotional Junglist out now via Island Records. Marking her biggest sonic leap to date, her alt-jungle sound has been perfected and honed into something utterly original, exciting and unequivocally Nia Archives. Written throughout 2025 – the album is a record of dualities, and heartbreak scorches throughout. “Vertical”’s 90s electronica inspirations and skittering hi-hats underscore a honeymoon period of romantic infatuation, the flirtatious and X-rated pop banger “Danger” sees her deliver a hedonistic manifesto like nursery rhyme, “Boys In Blue” is a subversive, punk-pop leaning take on the culmination of a relationship and most her recent atmospheric thudding jungle tune “Get Me Down”, featuring Jorja Smith is a sexy, liberating song of the Summer. Today, she shines a light on “There Goes Ma Head” with an iconic B&W video directed by Ivana Bobic that sees Nia roaming through a dark club, the camera toggling from her POV to shots of her in motion and other ravers in a glitchy, flashy, high contrast one take style piece.

Elsewhere on the album, “Almost Always” and “Tender” featuring Sampha see a masterclass in vulnerability that showcases her talent as a singer. In “Dance With Me 2Nite”, she flirts with dewy-eyed indie pop while a psyched, syncopated beat nods to her roots. Her vocals marry romantic strings as, lusting over a crush, she asks “hesitation [to] sit this one out”. Written with Ethan P. Flynn (FKA Twigs, David Byrne) and Julia Michaels (Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter), Nia finished the song with Blur and Arctic Monkey’s collaborator James Ford. While the record plays with genre, jungle purists will find satisfaction in the thudding basslines of “Feelingz Go Numb”.

Speaking on the record, Nia shares:

“To be an Emotional Junglist is to feel everything and nothing all at once. It’s to be calm yet chaotic, sane yet manic – up, down and sideways. The emotional spectrum I experience is vast, and I think this album reflects that depth completely. Being in your mid-20s, you’re figuring out who you are, exploring your sexuality… I think people kind of get stuck in girlhood, but really and truly, I’m 26 and I feel like I’m entering womanhood.”

Last month, Nia took her debut live show on a run of exclusive, sold-out intimate show dates in Leeds, London and NYC and this Summer taking the set up to Forbidden Fruit Festival in Dublin, Parklife in Manchester and Sonar Barcelona. These shows have received a raucous reception from fans new and old, as this exciting new era begins to unfold IRL. She’s currently on tour throughout the UK on 6-date b2b tour that’ll see her share the decks with Sexy Lady Massive, Clipz, Nectax (Up Ya Archives), Worsleyy (Up Ya Archives), Chimpo, Cheff The Boy and Janaway (Up Ya Archives). Next month, you can catch Nia Archives at All Points East this Summer alongside Jorja Smith and Tems.

Archives by name, archivist be artistic intention, as part of “The Music Is Black: A British Story” exhibition, co-curated with Rendezvous Projects, Up Ya Archives took over V&A East. The programme explored jungle’s evolution and the East London communities, pirate radio stations, record shops and DIY infrastructures that shaped it. Featuring Tim Reaper, DJ Flight, NAINA and SELECTACEE, the event took place across a variety of DJ sets, talks, workshops and screenings. Most recently, she announced her latest fashion collaboration with Peachy Den.

About Nia Archives

Bradford born, Leeds raised, ever since releasing her debut single “Sober Feels” in 2020 (self-funded by her student loan), Nia has become a poster girl for jungle’s revival. Growing up in Leeds, her musical indoctrination was a family affair with introductions to production software, gospel at church, and soon discovering everything from jungle to R&B on local pirate radio. From her pre-teen years, Nia would geek out over breakbeats in her bedroom, but as an artist she pushed the mould by bringing an unexpected vulnerability to the bangers. With a slew of critically acclaimed EPs under her belt - Headz Gone West, Forbidden Feelingz and Sunrise Bang Ur Head Against Tha Wall - and most recently her epoch-making debut album Silence Is Loud, her rise has been nothing short of colossal. Alongside support from The Guardian, PItchfork, British Vogue, The Fader, Crack, Mixmag, The Face, British GQ (Man Of The Year honoree 2024) and many more, she has multiple MOBO and BRIT Award nominations (she made history as the first jungle artist to earn three career BRIT Award nominations, securing nods for Artist of the Year and Best Dance Act at the 2025 BRIT Awards, following a 2023 "Rising Star" nomination), has opened for Beyonce on her Renaissance World Tour and remixed Jorja Smith, Fred Again and Jamie XX. A CP Company and Chopova Lowena favourite, she’s also worked with brands like Burberry, Dior, Nike, Corteiz and Apple.
