LOS ANGELES, CA (July 28, 2026) --- The critically acclaimed, genre-bending album, do+pe = no country for old men, from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends John Densmore and Chuck D will be available on standard black vinyl, CD, and cassette on September 18. The album’s new formats join a limited-edition vinyl in a special oxblood docs transparent high-melt pressing (housed in a deluxe gatefold featuring Chuck D’s artwork) which was previously released on Record Store Day (April 18), and the digital version of the album which was released to all major platforms on May 22.

do+pe = no country for old men combines Chuck D's lyrical urgency with John Densmore's dynamic rhythms, forging a sound that is rooted in the revolutionary spirit of 1970s rock and the social consciousness of hip-hop. Songs like Record Store Day song of the year, "every tick tick tick," the clever play-on-words of "people are strangers," and the powerful title track represent the duo's chemistry, balancing explosive grooves, rock textures and provocative lyricism into a work that feels as fresh as it does timeless. Created by producer and director David “C-Doc” Snyder, the video brings Chuck D’s illustrations to life in a series of animated sequences.

 

The origins of do+pe trace back to a chance meeting between Chuck D and Densmore at a Record Store Day panel more than a decade ago. What began as a simple exchange of ideas evolved into an artistic partnership built on mutual respect, fearless experimentation and a shared belief that music remains one of society's most powerful tools for reflection and change. The result blends politically charged hip-hop, rock, spoken word, and experimental soundscapes while the lyrics of no country for old men explore legacy, responsibility, aging and social consciousness through the lens of two artists whose influence has shaped generations of music.

 

About John Densmore:
John Densmore is the drummer for the legendary rock band The Doors, who have sold over a hundred million albums worldwide. In 1993, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and since then, he has earned a Grammy® Lifetime Achievement Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He has written, produced and acted in theatre productions (winning an NAACP Award), authored three books and contributed to the Los Angeles Times, Rolling Stone, the Guardian, the Nation and Chicago Tribune among others.
