"Led by the magnetizing and sonorous vocals of Soraya Sebghati alongside guitarists Jacob Butler and Josh Arteaga, Night Talks have a penchant for creating joyous rock anthems."

“'Same Time Tomorrow' is a vibrant plea to rise above a wound from the past..."

Los Angeles-based indie rock/pop trio Night Talks learn to put themselves first on funky groove "People Pleaser" with a matching video out now. Over sparse production, the splashy and bright track celebrates prioritizing one's desires and setting boundaries.

Listen: "People Pleaser"

Written with producer Eric Palmquist (Bad Suns, Tate McRae, half•alive)  Soraya Sebghati (vocals) says, "'People Pleaser' is a celebratory song about overcoming your tendencies to put everyone else first, and not wasting time with a person who makes you bend for them constantly. Lyrically, we wanted it to be vague whether it's about a friend or a partner, since this kind of dynamic can apply to any relationship."

With its funky bassline and baritone guitar loop, Jacob Butler (guitar, synth, vocals) says of the production, "We tried to create something more sparse than songs we've done before, with fewer layers that each serve to either be either funky or percussive; even the acoustic guitars feel more like shakers in the track."

Watch: "People Pleaser" (Official Video)

The accompanying dreamy video was shot at the band's own, Night Talks HQ. Butler says, "We shot on three different cameras, one regular, one with an old TV zoom lens, and a VHS, so that gave the video a bit of a multimedia effect that added to the daydreaming angle."

Officially formed in 2014, Night Talks is made up of three life-long friends Soraya Sebghati (vocals), Jacob Butler (guitar, synth, vocals), and Josh Arteaga (bass, synth, vocals) who were all born and raised in Los Angeles. Night Talks' debut record Same Time Tomorrow was shared in February 2022, followed by a sold out show at The Troubadour.

The band has garnered support from several leading tastemakers, including KROQ's Locals Only, GrimyGoods, Buzzbands LA and more. Buzzbands LA raved about the band's debut album, stating, "Same Time Tomorrow,” is a vibrant plea to rise above a wound from the past." They've been featured on playlists like Fresh Finds, All New Rock and All New Alternative and in November 2025, the band shared cinematic, shimmery single, "Shadows On The Run." Melodic Magazine wrote of the track's masterful "mixture of rock guitars and glittery synths..[pulling] from both the sparkly and sharp ends of the indie rock genre."

Night Talks has supported Couch, Circa Waves, Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade), Wine Lip and Kississippi. Last year, GRAMMY® Award-nominated genre-defying songwriter, producer, and guitarist Cory Wong was featured on the band's single, "Targets" after Sebghati appeared as a surprise guest at several shows on Wong's tour in 2024. Plus, earlier this year, the band stopped by Jam In The Van for a full set. Now, with renewed energy and big plans ahead, the group is gearing up for more.

"People Pleaser" is out now. Connect with the band on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube and stay tuned for much more from the rising trio.

ABOUT NIGHT TALKS

Night Talks started out as three kids who wanted to start a band, which sounds like the start to any great coming of age movie. Unsurprisingly, the trio is made up of filmmakers and film lovers — now adults, in the same band. Born and bred Angelenos Soraya Sebghati, Jacob Butler, and Joshua Arteaga create sparkly alt-rock that's inspired as much by films they create and consume as by LCD Soundsystem and Queens of the Stone Age. Their songs are defined by cinematic stories, danceable grooves, and intricate sonic layers, transporting you to a loud, lit up dance floor whether you're listening in your car or at a show.

In 2022, Night Talks released their debut LP, Same Time Tomorrow — including KROQ's #1 Locals Only song of the year "On And On" — which was produced during the pandemic and allowed the band to create a whole visual world of music videos for every track on the album. 2025 saw Night Talks return to the studio to go deeper, taking a fresh, pop-forward approach to their songwriting and album conception. As they take their unique blend of synth pop and arena rock across the country, Night Talks continues to build their loyal following, winning over fans of every genre night after night.
