“There are a number of different styles represented in the songs on this new album. It seems like there aren’t rules regarding genre. If someone brings in a surf riff, that’s fair game.”

“Colorado-based rock outfit Jesus Christ Taxi Driver makes music that captures the chaos and absurdity of our modern moment and transmutes it into something electric and galvanizing.”

Up next from Colorado’s Jesus Christ Taxi Driver comes today’s new self-titled single, premiered by Under The Radar. Even though the band formed four years ago with this song’s concept as their guiding principle, the accusatory thesis statement finally hits the airwaves today. Ripping forward at a blues rock pace, JCTD points a finger directly at the hypocrisy and hatred held by some of the religious right in America — Stream “Jesus Christ Taxi Driver.”

Vocalist and guitarist Ian Ehrhart said this song represents, “the fear and racism Americans have towards immigrants; asking the questions: what would Jesus do? And what if God was one of us? This song is seeking to expose the contradictions of the religious right by plopping the God child in modern day NYC as a cab driver. From Bethlehem to the great U.S. of A. our hero (Jesus H. Christ) seeks to escape religious persecution and make some money to help his family, only to have everything taken away.”

JCTD’s upcoming second album, Taxi The Rich, will be released digitally on April 24 and physically on March 19 via Midtopia’s Buy Before You Stream initiative. Holding a spotlight to the worst society has to offer, JCTD pull no punches on their irreverent, politically pointed suite of new songsPre-order Taxi The Rich on vinyl here.

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST TAXI DRIVER:

Carsick in the backseat from the stop-and-go, foot fixed to the brake driving of New York City, you catch a glimpse in the rearview mirror. A set of familiar eyes meet yours, but it couldn’t be. Why would Jesus H. Christ be an immigrant in the U.S. of A, collecting fares as a cabbie to put food on the table? Certainly this isn’t the American Dream we were sold. A tongue in cheek concept representing so many forms of disillusionment and hypocrisy, Jesus Christ Taxi Driver found their band name, as well as a track off of their upcoming second album Taxi The Rich

Formed in 2022 on Colorado’s front range, the band is made up of Ian Ehrhart (guitar and vocals), Colin Kelly (guitar and vocals), Miles Jenkins (drums) and Will Ehrhart (bass). Known for their unrestrained, disruptive live shows that have been likened to Iggy Pop and The Cramps, Jesus Christ Taxi Driver has previously opened for Frank Black (Pixies), The Hold Steady, A Place to Bury Strangers, The Thing and more. Leaving their mark across North America, they have also performed at festivals including Treefort, Somewhere Fest and Break Out West. Fueled by the human connections they make on the road, the band has every intention of spending as little time at home this year as possible.

In 2023, the band released their debut record Lick My Soul with standout tracks “STUPIDMOTHERFUCKER” and “Ding Dong The Beeves are Dead.” In 2025, they were included in the National Independent Venue Association’s (NIVA) Live List of best independent live bands to keep an eye on. The Denver Westword frequently champions Jesus Christ Taxi Driver as one of the best bands in the scene right now.

Taxi The Rich will be released on April 24th via Midtopia.
