(20 March) Hannah Storm today releases her debut album 'It Will Never Be The Right Time' via Petroleum Records (home to Sigrid and AURORA) - a sweeping pop record that marks the arrival of one of Norway’s most compelling new voices. Hannah Storm plays Øya Festival and Bergenfest this summer.
Written between Oslo, Bergen and London, with collaborators including songwriter and producer Eg White (Adele, Florence + The Machine, Kylie Minogue), alongside Glen Roberts (Olivia Dean, Joy Crookes) and Lily Williams, the album brings together years of songwriting into a collection of romantic, melody-driven songs carried by Storm’s striking vocal.
Drawing inspiration from classic balladry, choir music and jazz crooners like Frank Sinatra - alongside fellow Norwegian Susanne Sundfør and contemporary artists such as Laufey and RAYE - Storm adapts these influences into a modern pop setting, placing her in the same songwriter-led space as Gracie Abrams, Paris Paloma and Lizzy McAlpine.
Focus track 'Remember Me' captures the album at its most powerful, building from a delicate beginning into a dramatic climax that showcases Storm’s voice and instinct for big, cinematic songwriting. "I’m a huge emotional being," Storm says. "I wear my heart outside of my body. All my emotions are very big and dramatic. I think that comes out in the music. 'Remember Me' was the last song written for the album and is about the feeling of being left wondering how it can be so easy for someone to forget you when it’s so hard for you to forget them."
Elsewhere on the album, Storm shows her playful side on the upbeat 'Loverboy' and the rockier escapism of previously released single 'Taxi', while album highlight 'Special' explores the more fragile and yearning side of her writing.
Raised in Oslo and now based in Bergen, Storm grew up surrounded by music and began writing songs as a child as a way of expressing feelings she found difficult to say out loud. That instinct still shapes her music today, with songs that often grow from quiet beginnings into powerful vocal moments where nothing is shrouded in mystery. A song like 'Left My Love' makes her intentions very clear: "I left my love on your doorstep, hoping you’d find it, darling."
Even before releasing a full-length album, Storm has built a reputation as a compelling live performer, touring across the UK, Mexico, Argentina and Spain and opening for AURORA on global tours. She has also appeared at Mexico’s prestigious Corona Capital festival and will continue that momentum this summer with performances at Øya Festival and Bergenfest.
