2025 has been an incredible year for the indie rock icon Neko Case. Her memoir ‘The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You’ reached #5 on the New York Times nonfiction best sellers list and has been named one of the best books of the year by Vulture, The Washington Post, The Globe, Apple, NPR and more while her eighth studio album ‘Neon Grey Midnight Green’ came out in September to immediate critical acclaim and declared an essential album in her catalog.
She brought the new songs on a fall tour that included stops in legendary rooms like Levon Helm’s Ranch, The Beacon Theatre, Massey Hall, First Avenue and more. In early 2026 she will embark on more shows throughout Canada and the Northeast, and today she is announcing another encore run that will travel throughout the West coast. ‘Neon Grey Midnight Green’ is Case’s first new music this decade, following 2018’s ‘Hell-On’, an eclectic piece that The Guardian called “a pitch-perfect roar of female defiance.” Her latest is no less urgent but carries a deep blue streak of sentimentality in its incandescent blaze. More than any of her past albums, ‘Neon Grey Midnight Green’ was laid down live with a full band – even breaths and shirt-sleeve rustlings were kept in the final mix as a reminder that “humans were here.” Recording primarily took place at Case’s own Vermont studio, Carnassial Sound, with additional sessions in Denver, Colorado with the PlainsSong Chamber Orchestra and in Portland, Oregon with Tucker Martine.
