Five-time GRAMMY Award-winning pianist, composer and producer Robert Glasper kicked off the seventh anniversary of his acclaimed ROBTOBER residency at the iconic Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City this week and will be joined by Cordae tonight and through the weekend. This now long-standing NYC tradition is a month-long celebration of music, creativity and collaboration that draws fans from across the globe and features iconic musical guests throughout his 50 shows over 25 nights. What began in 2018 as a two-week residency has evolved into a full month of performances inspired by the intimacy of the Blue Note and Glasper’s desire to create unique musical experiences, embodying the essence of jazz itself. This year, ROBTOBER comes alongside the wide release of Robert Glasper’s live compilation album, Keys To The City: Volume One, dropping Friday, October 10th across all digital streaming platforms worldwide. The vinyl version, a limited edition translucent blue 2xLP, is set to be released November 21st exclusively on Glasper’s webstore. Originally released in 2024 as an Apple Music exclusive, the album now makes its global debut alongside a vinyl release. The album, currently under GRAMMY consideration in multiple categories, is a testament to the magic of collaboration and improvisation that is Robert Glasper & ROBTOBER. The project features a selection of highlight performances including The Roots’ “Step Into the Realm” featuring Black Thought, Outkast’s “Prototype” sung by Norah Jones, a cover of Chick Corea’s “Paint the World” featuring Thundercat, a dialed-in arrangement of Glasper’s early-career Mulgrew Miller tribute “One for Grew,” and an impossibly groovy revamp of Ready for the World’s “Love You Down” sung by the voice we hear on all three of Glasper’s 2024 Apple Music collaborative projects, Meshell Ndegeocello.
