Today, five-time Grammy award-winning pianist and composer Robert Glasper announces the return of his highly anticipated Robtober residency at legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC, taking place October 1 through November 3. Now in its seventh year, the month-long residency will once again bring an unparalleled lineup of genre-defying artists to the stage, cementing Glasper’s reputation as a curator of culture and collaborator without boundaries. This year’s Robtober will feature a rotating cast of performances and special guests, including Cordae, Emily King, Bilal, Ledisi, and more incredible appearances to be announced. See HERE for tickets and more information.

The announcement follows the wide release of his Grammy-nominated album Code Derivation via Loma Vista Recordings, now available for the first time across all major streaming platforms. On October 10th, 2024’s Keys To The City Volume One will arrive on all platforms as well. Last weekend, Robert Glasper headed west to Napa Valley, California, serving as Artist in Residence for The Black Radio Experience—a bespoke, three-day event hosted at The Meritage Resort & Spa and presented by Blue Note Jazz Festival in collaboration with Blue Note Entertainment Group and Black Radio Productions. Inspired by Glasper’s iconic Robtober residency at the Blue Note in NYC, the experience brought his Black Radio legacy to life through genre-crossing live performances, thought-provoking conversations, and unforgettable collaborations. From Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31, audiences were treated to powerhouse sets from Jazmine Sullivan, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Roots, Yebba, Terrace Martin, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, alongside standout performances by Anthony Hamilton, Saba, Lupe Fiasco, Willow, Esperanza Spalding, Hiatus Kaiyote, Infinity Song, and more with Glasper himself taking the stage daily. More than just a festival, the weekend proved to be a transcendent celebration of music, connection, and the ever-evolving tapestry of Black culture.

Last week, Glasper also announced the launch of Been There Done That, a landmark creative collaboration with streetwear legend Jeff Staple, coming September 4th and powered by 12on12. At the core of the collaboration is a limited-edition double vinyl, hand-curated by Glasper and pressed on heavyweight coloured wax. Each vinyl comes housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve featuring original artwork by Jeff Staple and is hand-numbered, limited to just 400 copies worldwide. The album traverses Glasper’s genre-defying catalogue, from jazz and R&B to hip-hop and soul, and features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, H.E.R., and Anderson .Paak, Brittany Howard, and Q-Tip. The record also debuts the world premiere of “Ah Yeah (Alternate Take)”, an unreleased track by the Robert Glasper Experiment featuring Musiq Soulchild and Chrisette Michele, as well as a never-before-heard recorded conversation between Glasper and Staple, captured during the creative process. Extending the project’s message into wearable form, Been There Done That also includes a limited-edition capsule designed by Jeff Staple, in collaboration with Reed Art Department. To celebrate the drop, Been There Done That will come to life through two exclusive live activations. Kicking off with The Black Radio Experience in Napa Valley over Labor Day Weekend (August 29–31), Glasper and Staple appeared for a special signing of a limited-edition print edition of the album artwork, along with a select quantity of vinyl, available exclusively at the event. STAPLE 21 Mercer will then host a curated installation, product drop, and in-store event during Glasper’s annual residency at Blue Note in October in NYC. The vinyl and capsule will be available at 12on12.com, RAD.com on 9/4, and in person at The Black Radio Experience.

Widely regarded as one of the most forward-thinking artists in music today, Glasper continues to blur lines and break molds; whether it’s through acclaimed studio work, landmark live residencies, or immersive festival curation. With Code Derivation now available to wider audiences, the wide release of Keys To The City Volume One. to follow on Oct 10thand Robtober around the corner, 2025 is shaping up to be another banner year for the boundary-pushing artist.
