LONDON, September 26, 2025 – Acclaimed alt-rock guitarist and songwriter Laura-Mary Carter, best known as one half of UK duo Blood Red Shoes, releases her highly anticipated debut solo album 'BYE BYE JACKIE' today via Jazz Life. The album marks a compelling departure from Blood Red Shoes' electric intensity, venturing into melancholy indie, British noir, and Americana territory.

The album's focus track, 'Who Are You Foolin'', showcases Carter's evolution as a solo artist, blending vintage recording techniques with an atmospheric feel reminiscent of 1960s French films. The track is available to stream now at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWe0IilTpnA

Speaking about the album, Carter reveals: "Yes, Jackie exists (and if you're reading this... don't). This is a farewell in stereo -- to fading faces, busted dreams, and plastic flowers that never wilt. I bet it all on Jackie. Jackie lost. Where do you go after that? Somewhere between the jukebox and the junkyard -- that's where this album lives. Go ahead -- laugh. I probably will, eventually."

'BYE BYE JACKIE' is an intimate exploration of love, loss, and female identity, featuring vintage recording techniques including tape, Farfisa, and omnichord. Recorded in Hackney with producers Oscar Robertson (Sholto) and David Bardon (Sunglasses for Jaws), the album channels influences from The Velvet Underground to The Ronettes and Beck, creating Carter's most personal work to date.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT

Carter will embark on her biggest solo support shows to date, joining Queens of the Stone Age for their highly anticipated 'The Catacombs Tour 2025' across Europe and the UK this October.

"I'm thrilled to be joining Queens of the Stone Age for these very special shows across Europe and the UK, in some of the world's most iconic venues including opera houses and the Royal Albert Hall," says Carter. "They'll be performing a unique, stripped-back set inspired by their recording in the Paris catacombs and I'll be performing solo. It's been a hard secret to keep, but I'm so excited to finally share it."

THE CATACOMBS TOUR 2025 DATES

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

The album follows the success of previous singles 'June Gloom' featuring Lee Kiernan from IDLES, and 'Four Letter Words', which Carter describes as her "favourite track on the album," featuring "this French retro feel with a touch of British monotone" with layered synths and Farfisa keys.
Carter's solo work has already garnered significant attention from The Line of Best FitDork MagazineDIY Mag, plus radio play on John Kennedy's Xposure on Radio X and Selector Radio UK.
