Los Angeles, CA (June 9, 2025)—19-year-old singer-songwriter and producer sombr scores his first #1 at U.S. radio today with “back to friends.” His hit single lands on the top of the Alternative Airplay chart after just 10 weeks, marking the quickest Alternative Airplay accession for a musician making their debut on the tally in nearly a decade.
Last month, the breakthrough star made his late night T.V. debut performing “back to friends” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”—watch here. The track, which earned sombr his first Billboard Hot 100 hitcontinues to accumulate millions of streams daily since its release at the end of last year, now with 356M streams to date.
sombr’s latest single, “undressed,” concurrently scales the radio charts, this week reaching #16 at Top 40 and #17 at Hot AC. It continues to skyrocket across platforms with 250M streams to date and climbing.
“undressed” and “back to friends” also land at #5 and #6 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, and at #4 and #6 on Spotify’s U.S. Top 50, respectfully. The synchronous hits are also climbing at Spotify’s Global Top 50, as “back to friends” hits #2 and “undressed” #9.
sombr’s highly anticipated North American and European headline tour is underway. The sold out run finds sombr performing at venues around the world, including at New York’s Gramercy Theatre, two nights at New York’s Brooklyn Steel and Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre and a show at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre. sombr will also take his dynamic live show to Australia and New Zealand in December. The dates sold out instantly upon presale and include four slots at Spilt Milk Festival, nights in Sydney, Melbourne and more. Full details and ticket information can be found at sombrmusic.com/.
A New York-native raised on the Lower East Side, sombr—born Shane Boose—started making music in his bedroom while studying classical music as a student at the prestigious public school, LaGuardia High School. His breakout hit “Caroline” (2022) took the internet by storm, and he has since released a series of EPs and singles, climbing to over 39 million Spotify monthly listeners. Now based in Los Angeles, sombr continues to explore young romance and heartbreak through his music—all of which is self-written and released via Warner Records.
