LISTEN | VINYL HOPE WE HAVE FUNToday Mt. Joy release their powerful and emotionally expansive fourth album, Hope We Have Fun, out now via Futures x Bloom Field Records. Arriving at the peak of a remarkable grassroots rise, the album is a deeply personal reflection on resilience, love, and the messy beauty of life lived in motion.
Formed in Philadelphia in 2016, Mt. Joy, Matt Quinn (vocals, guitar), Sam Cooper (guitar), Jackie Miclau (keys), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), and Michael Byrnes (bass), has steadily built a devoted global following through word-of-mouth, gripping live performances, and songs that speak to shared human experience. Over the last few years, they’ve gone from self-releasing SoundCloud songs on to selling out Madison Square Garden, amassing nearly 2 billion streams, and selling more than 500,000 tickets across North America and Europe.
Hope We Have Fun captures that journey in full, 13 tracks that explore everything from road-worn intimacy to post-tour depression, spiritual longing, and the sacred act of making music with people you love. The record features fan favorite, “Highway Queen“ along with newer songs like ”God Loves Weirdos” which dives into the quieter moments between shows, the love that blooms during late-night gas station runs and long-haul van ride- while “More More More” faces down the haunting silence of post-tour depression, building to a breaking point before erupting in a powerful emotional release.
Emotional track “Lucy,” was inspired by a fan who reconnected with the band after their sold-out MSG show and shared her recent brain cancer diagnosis. The track became a tribute to her bravery and vulnerability, and Mt. Joy announced a philanthropic partnership with the American Brain Tumor Association, pledging a portion of proceeds from “Lucy” to fund research and advocacy efforts.
Two special collaborations mark high points of the record. On “In The Middle,” Mt. Joy teams up with rising alt-pop powerhouse Gigi Perez for a soul-searching, slow-burning duet that captures the ache of not knowing where you stand, with someone else, or with yourself.
Of the collaboration, Gigi Perez said, “it came together naturally. When we wrote the song, I didn't connect that Matt was from Mt. Joy, which is one of my favorite bands. He also wasn't aware of me as an artist and so there was this very easy connection that felt anonymous looking back. We just hung out and it happened in a room full of new friends. When he mentioned wanting to put the song out I was so excited. It's another side of my sonic interests and it's an honor to get to express it with Mt. Joy.” HOPE WE HAVE FUN TOUR 06/06 - Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre - Sterling Heights, MI 06/07 - Stage AE - Outdoors - Pittsburgh, PA 06/08 - The Governors Ball Music Festival - New York, NY 06/10 - Midway Lawn at Champlain Valley Expo - Essex Junction, VT 06/12 - MegaCorp Pavilion - Newport, KY 06/13 - Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia, MD 06/14 - Bonnaroo - Manchester, TN 06/17 - Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park - Indianapolis, IN 06/19 - Thompson's Point - Portland, ME 06/20 - Green River Festival - Greenfield, MA 06/20-06/22 - Mountain Jam Music Festival - Highmount, NY 06/27 - Rough Trade East - London, UK 06/28 - BST Hyde Park - London, UK 06/29 - Banquet Records - London, UK 06/30 - HMW Manchester - Manchester, UK 07/04-07/05 - Zootown Festival - Missoula, MT 07/23-07/27 - FloydFest - Floyd, VA 07/27 - Newport Folk Festival - Newport, RI 08/09 - Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary, AB 08/10 - Edmonton Folk Festival (Gallagher Park) - Edmonton, AB 08/12 - Twilight Concert Series at Library Square - Salt Lake City, UT 08/14 - Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison, CO 08/15 - Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - Denver, CO 08/17 - Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater - Nampa, ID 08/19 - Deer Lake Park - Burnaby, BC 08/20 - WAMU Theater - Seattle, WA 08/22 - Hayden Homes Amphitheater - Bend, OR 08/23 - The Greek Theatre - Berkeley, CA 08/24 - Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa Barbara, CA 08/26 - The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego, CA 09/11 - Budweiser Stage - Toronto, ON 09/12-09/14 - Borderland Music Festival - East Aurora, NY 09/13 - United Center - Chicago, IL 09/16 - The Armory - Minneapolis, MN 09/17 - Kohl Center - Madison, WI 09/20 - TD Garden - Boston, MA 09/23 - Koka Booth Amphitheatre - Cary, NC 09/24 - ExploreAsheville.com Arena - Asheville, NC 09/26 - TD Pavilion at The Mann - Philadelphia, PA 09/27 - TD Pavilion at The Mann - Philadelphia, PA 03/27/26 -- Eventim Apollo - London, UK Buy Tickets HERE |
