Early Praise for Rocket:
"Rocket make soaring, anthemic alt-rock with a classic feel, picking up a torch from veteran acts like Dinosaur Jr....a band that’s ready to take it to the next level" - Rolling Stone
“nods to ’90s indie rock staples..blissfully detached dream-pop..hard-hitting numbers..Rocket have built themselves a solid launching pad” - Stereogum ‘Best New Artists of 2024’
"It's rare to find a band so fully developed without an album out.. they're certainly not lacking in the songwriting department” - Consequence ‘Artists to Watch in 2025’
"The debut EP from LA quartet Rocket absolutely soars... the band combines a laid-back California charm with biting lyricism and tight, synergetic compositions. If Sonic Youth made pop chart-friendly hits, you’d have Rocket. We need 100 more of these songs."- Paste Magazine
"The harmonies glide, whereas the riffy, daydreamy guitars build to a glorious climax in the back half, reminiscent of Sonic Youth and Momma" - Alternative Press ‘Rising Artists to Know’
“this underground band are making big, open-hearted anthems for a new generation to rally around” - NME ‘Cover Story’
"Rocket are stepping into the light unflinchingly honest and with a loose-limbed confidence not at all indicative of their freshman status..magnetic melodies that are contoured by a distinctive and generous sincerity." - Monster Children
"the alt-rock quartet’s debut EP offers catchy, yearning ballads that evoke nostalgia for adolescent frustrations” - Document Journal
"If you're mad for young guitar bands like Momma & Feeble Little Horse, L.A. four-piece Rocket are sure to hit your alt rock sweet spot" - Bandcamp ‘New & Notable’
"the new stars of the genre" - Impose Magazine
Los Angeles, CA’s Rocket announce their signing to Transgressive Records / Canvasback and share new single “Take Your Aim.” The blistering new track was written shortly after the release of their 2023 debut EP Versions of You, and will appear on the tracklist of the newly reissued EP, available on vinyl & CD for the first time via Transgressive Records / Canvasback, out April 18th. Pre-order HERE.
The track is about “the indignant response to feeling misunderstood or taken advantage of by someone but not being able to confront them about it,” says the band’s Alithea Tuttle, “It’s about a friendship that was built upon them taking more than they give and watching the friendship grow sour as time goes on. The verses illustrate the nature of the relationship; what that person says is what goes and no one can change their mind. The choruses fall back into the repetitiveness of overthinking; if this is all my fault like you say it is then take your aim.” Read more about the track in today’s Consequence ‘Origins’ feature.
Comprised of Tuttle (Bass, Vocals), Baron Rinzler (Guitar), Cooper Ladomade (Drums) and Desi Scaglione (Guitar), the members of Rocket have all know each other for a very long time, some since as early as preschool, with the full group coalescing in high school. “We spend pretty much every day together, so being in a band wasn’t even a question,” they explain. In early 2021, the group scraped together what money they had and rented the cheapest lockout space they could find, rehearsing religiously for months until their first show.
Inspired by the success of that first performance, the band convened in Cooper’s parents back house, and using a 1970’s Yamaha PM-1000 recording console that was donated to their elementary school, recorded their first EP. Despite their youth, there’s a confidence and strength of vision across these songs that is rare to find in a debut.
The now 8-song collection (newly repackaged today’s “Take Your Aim”) received nods from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Paste, and Consequence, among others, and landed the band their first cover story at NME. The forward momentum put the band on the road for most of 2024, opening for iconic bands like Ride, Sunny Day Real Estate, Silversun Pickups, and peers including Julie, Bar Italia, Hotline TNT. The band appeared on festival stages around the world, including Pitchfork London & Paris, Bumbershoot, Best Friends Forever, and more.
