"Her synth-pop sound with incredible vocals to match combines to create a cathartic outlet for heartbreak and other messy emotions." –V Magazine

“This impulse to feel is evident in Shoemaker’s lyrics, which are always self-aware, confessional, and utterly unafraid to lean into — even celebrate — the ugly feelings that come with relationships. NYLON

“Indie-pop icon Anna Shoemaker looks to the serenity of nature on her cathartic new hit, ‘Fields’… when everyone’s making resolutions and seeking betterment, she wants to remind us that looking toward the future doesn’t always have to be so anxiety-inducing.” — Notion

February 21, 2025 (Los Angeles, CA) - Today, rising indie-popstar Anna Shoemaker releases her sophomore album Someone Should Stop Her, via +1 Records. With a gift for distilling the chaos and emotion of young adulthood into her songwriting, Anna is celebrated for her alt-infused production, addictive pop melodies, and fearless lyricism. Her music paints a vivid portrait of youthful turbulence, charm, and self-discovery. This album offers an honest reflection of her personal growth, embracing a more stripped-down production that feels as intimate as a late-night heart-to-heart with a bestie.

The focus track, “Real Life,” is a wry, catchy ode to not “giving an F+++ and moving on. With lyrics that balance self-reflection and sarcasm, Anna shrugs off the past with a mix of nostalgia and liberation. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to stare out the window dramatically, but also maybe dance in your kitchen while deleting someone’s number. The “Real Life” visualizer perfectly captures Anna’s vintage-meets-modern vibe—turning post-breakup boredom into an aesthetic.

Anna on the release “Real life is a the first song on the album for a reason, it really marks the start of a new chapter for me. It’s a song about wanting to be the best version of yourself, I think in order to do that you have to cut ties with whatever isn’t working.”
