ZSELA RELEASES NEW SONG + VIDEO “NOT YOUR ANGEL” DEBUT ALBUM OUT THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 14TH ALBUM TOUR DATES BEGIN IN AUGUST

Zsela (Photo credit: Rob Kulisek) Zsela (pronounced ZHAY-la) has released a new song and video, “Not Your Angel,” the third single before her debut album Big For You arrives via Mexican Summer this Friday, June 14th. The song, centered on romantic entanglement, is a propulsive and kaleidoscopic album highlight that delves into the passionate premonitions accompanying a potential lover. Co-written by Zsela, Daniel Aged, and Casey MQ, “Not Your Angel” follows the singles “Fire Excape” and “Lily of the Nile” released earlier this year. About the track, Zsela says: “At its core, ‘Not Your Angel’ is a love letter about a deep desire to be met for the ever-changing you. A desire to challenge the inherent fear of feeling like someone is slipping away just because they are changing. I could say that about a lover, a friend, family or even myself. Instead creating more space for welcoming all the yous that fit in you.” The accompanying video — directed and edited by Ethan Skaates, and executive produced by Ryan Trecartin — is the first music video recorded using Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s revolutionary spatial computer. It’s the first music video recorded using Apple Vision Pro, and was used to capture an immersive, first-person perspective of Zsela as seen from the eyes of an unseen 'lover.' Director Ethan Skaates says: “We chose to film with Vision Pro due to its unique ability to capture a person’s natural field of vision, a first-person perspective, as multiple individuals interact with Zsela. This feature was crucial in creating a sense of intimacy between Zsela and the viewer. The result brings Zsela's music to life in a way that has never been done before.” Taul Katz, who co-creative directed the video with Zsela, says: “There’s a look you get from someone you love that feels like a gift and I wanted that special feeling to drive the video. ‘Not Your Angel’ is such a playful song that expresses something deeply intimate at its center and we were blessed with a team of close friends and family to help bring these layers to life.

Single Art - “Not Your Angel”  Zsela’s debut album Big For You is a timeless statement that flows between grandiosity and intimacy to build a sonic landscape overflowing with introspection. A work of cavernous depth produced in tandem with Daniel Aged (Frank Ocean, Kelela) and Gabe Wax (The War On Drugs, Soccer Mommy), the album also contains cameos from several members of Zsela’s extended family of collaborators, including Marc Ribot, Nick Hakim, Casey MQ and Jasper Marsalis (Slauson Malone 1). Zsela, who has shared stages with the likes Cat Power, Caroline Polachek, and Angel Olsen, and made appearances at the likes of Carnegie Hall and MoMA PS1 in New York and the Natural History Museums in both New York and Los Angeles, has a handful of upcoming U.S dates in support of the album. Starting in Seattle on August 16th, Zsela will make stops in San Francisco, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. She’ll also perform at Pitchfork London and Le Guess Who? Festivals later this year (full dates below).
