(June 28th, 2024) - Following the recent announcement of his upcoming mixtape, BACK IN ACTION 4.0, midwxst drops a new track from the project titled “GUN SMOKE.” The upcoming mixtape is the fourth installment in his BACK IN ACTION series and showcases midwxst’s creative evolution as he delves into his passion for car culture while embodying a spirit for relentless progress and growing confidence. In “GUN SMOKE,” this is vividly captured as the 21-year-old raps about feeling untouchable over a hard-hitting instrumental with booming 808s. The single follows “E30” and “FIRE” featuring DC The Don, which are both included on the forthcoming project.
midwxst shares about the upcoming mixtape, "It’s a perfect mixture of loud 808's and confident lyrics that pay homage to the car culture and street racing scene. As a kid, I was obsessed with cars - - from building them on ROBLOX, to playing The Need for Speed video games, until the sun came up - - this obsession helped fuel my creative journey for this project. Similar to the spirit of racing itself - always pushing forward - BACK IN ACTION 4.0 will definitely make you want to put your foot on the gas and never let up, which I don't plan to do any time soon."
Last September, midwxst, born Edgar Sarratt III, released his debut album E3, which provided listeners a path forward through relationships, identity formation, and the internet. midwxst enlisted industry veterans and session musicians to soundtrack what he described as a “fairytale gone wrong,” serving as an intricate painting of love in all its forms and evolutions.
