(June 7, 2024) - Honduran pop phenom Isabella Lovestory shares another taste of her forthcoming body of work with her new single “VIP.” The new single, produced by Chicken, arrives alongside a music video co-directed by Kamala Cutrone and Isabella Lovestory. The song also coincides with the launch of Isabella’s Plastic Fantasy tour, which launched last night in Mexico City and includes celebratory Pride Month shows in Miami, Monterrey and Tijuana, MX before she embarks on a series of Summer festival dates in Europe.
“VIP” exudes the unbridled confidence that’s become an inextricable part of Isabella’s artistic output. Unafraid to dismantle conventional ideas of pop stardom, the accompanying music video is brimming with camp references that see Isabella and her counterparts dressed as “Catch Me If You Can”-esque flight attendants gone rogue. On this latest offering, Isabella employs beats reminiscent of early 2000s Southern rap only to zoom out of the world she has built by mixing in her own signature sound with trap synth notes, reminding listeners how her creative partnership with producers like Chicken and Kamixlo has carved out a path for perreo pop to flourish.
Born in Honduras before moving to the US and then Canada at 13 years old, Lovestory has always exhibited a deep passion for colliding sound and visuals into an overwhelming barrage of her creativity. In 2022, she made her mark with her debut Amor Hardcore, which Pitchfork characterized as “playful, maximalist, and flirtatious to the core.” Isabella continues to establish herself as living on the cutting edge of pop and reggaeton, working alongside boundary-breaking producers and frequent collaborators Chicken and Kamixlo. Always agile as a songwriter and collaborator, Isabella has worked with the likes of LE SSERAFIM on “ANTIFRAGILE,” Villano Antillano on 2023’s “Fuetazo,” as well as contemporaries Ms Nina, La Goony Chonga, and more, all of whom are trailblazers in the diversification of reggaeton.
