FEBRUARY 20TH, 2024 – NEW YORK, NY – Today, British superstar Sophie Ellis-Bextor announces she will embark on her first-ever headline tour in North America this summer. Tour dates include San Francisco on May 30th, San Diego on May 31st, Washington, DC on June 3rd, Boston on June 4th, Philadelphia on June 5th, Toronto on June 8th, and her previously announced New York show at Webster Hall on June 6th, which sold-out within one day of its on-sale. This weekend, Sophie delivered a stunning performance of her 2001 global smash hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” at the BAFTA Awards—watch HERE. Last week, she made her US late night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, backed by The Roots and a three piece string section—watch HERE.
 
Recently, Ellis-Bextor shared a PNAU remix of “Murder on the Dancefloor”—listen HERE. After featuring in the epic final scene of Emerald Fennell’s recently released and much-talked-about film Saltburn, the 2001 hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” has seen a huge resurgence across the world, resulting in global charting success. Old and new fans are streaming the viral song, and the track is being used as a trending audio for millions of videos across socials. The song continues to garner new achievements, amassing over 140 million streams so far in 2024 (500 million streams to date) and peaking on the Official UK Singles Chart at #2, Billboard Hot 100 Chart at #51, Billboard Global 200 Chart at #10 and Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart in the Top 5. It is also the most-added song at US Top 40 & Hot AC Radio, sitting in the Top 20 and Top 30 on the charts, respectively. “Murder on the Dancefloor” previously peaked at #1 on the Spotify Viral 100 Chart and climbed to Top 40 on the US Spotify Top 200. It also hit #1 on the iTunes Dance Chart and Top 10 on the US Shazam Chart.
 
“Murder on the Dancefloor” became a Top 10 hit worldwide on release 22 years ago, charting at #2 in the UK and within the Top 3 in Australia, New Zealand, and four European countries. The iconic music video, which is now available in 4K for the first time, sees a cunning Sophie compete in a dance competition and deceptively get rid of her fellow contestants. The video was filmed by Sophie Muller and was one of their first videos together, beginning a long working relationship that still continues today.
 
Sophie previously announced she will be releasing “Murder on the Dancefloor” on 7” vinyl for the first time as a limited edition red 7”, and will also release a limited-edition red CD single. Both are available for purchase here.
 
She also recently shared a 7-track Murder on the Dancefloor EP, featuring “Murder on the Dancefloor” alongside the original B-Side “Never Let Me Down,” the Extended Album Version, and remixes from Jewels & Stone, Danny D, Hq and Twin Murder. All tracks were originally released in 2001, but the majority are brand new to streaming services.
