Platinum-certified New York alternative pop duo Cults have made another exciting mark in the journey of their viral hit “Gilded Lily” with the release of a new remix package for the song, out today via Columbia Records. The collection of tracks includes a remix by cinematic soul group El Michels Affair, as well as a remix by producer Hardaway and Cults’ own Madeline Follin. Rounding out the track list is the sped-up version of the song, which led the charge in the song’s massive return on TikTok, and the Slowed + Reverb version. The band was also recently hand-picked to join the carefully curated lineup of openers for Vampire Weekend’s 2024 Only God Was Above Us Tour this fall. Cults’ run will include 18 stops across North America – including shows in Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, Nashville, Atlanta, Austin and more. The duo—Madeline Follin [vocals, multi-instrumentalist] and Brian Oblivion[guitar]—has quietly captivated audiences with a delicate and dynamic hybrid of indie, electronic, and pop amplified with cinematic scope. They’ve evolved over the course of albums such as Cults [2011], Static [2013], Offering [2017], and Host [2020], while tallying over 1 billion streams buoyed by the platinum “Always Forever,” “Go Outside,” “Bad Things,” and “Gilded Lily,” which exploded in 2023 as a viral hit. Along the way, they’ve earned widespread acclaim from The New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, Billboard, and many more. Rejoining the Columbia Records family via a JV with Sinderlyn in 2023, the pair embark another era anchored by unfettered creativity, unrestrained experimentation, and undeniable songcraft. |
