King Borneo – the Stockholm-based brainchild of Gustav Jennefors – are excited to announce their self-titled debut EP, which is heralded by the release of new single “People Eyewear” – stream it now at all DSPs. The track is accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek (yet somehow all too appropriate) music video, a fitting accompaniment to the track’s winding riffs and languid grooves. “I’ve had a period of feeling really low, having a harder time sleeping and basically spiraling down,” Jennefors says. “‘People Eyewear’ is just a documentation of my thoughts during that period and my way of handling it. When you’ve been viewed as an easy going and content person it can be hard to let go of that image. Stockholm-based Gustav Jennefors is the mastermind behind the project King Borneo. Gustav who is also a part of the Lo-fi pop duo Morabeza Tobacco, has a past in the psychedelic rock scene but has now turned his attention to a more folk-poppy universe. The music combines melodic seventies folk and psych-pop with guest appearances from wild fuzz guitars. With each song representing a part of his life, Gustav has created his own micro-universe on his ep with themes such as Breakup, death, cougars, depression and decadence. Gustav finds inspiration in bands such as White Fence, R. Stevie Moore and Lou Reed. KING BORNEO KING BORNEO EP Release date: December 8, 2023
