Skin sheds to reveal a version of me yet seen. Trials, tribulations, realizations. Everything contributed to the human. An attempt to not become my reactions. An attempt to retract to my purest form. Who is Maxo ? When nothing else matters? Love sharing the same coin as hate. Can’t go backwards. Embracing what’s to come. New blessings. Can’t keep extending myself for what does not love me, for me. No more superficial friendships or conversations. Getting rid of everything just to see what’s genuinely here for me. - Debbie’s Son

(September 12, 2023) - Just seven months after releasing his sophomore album Even God Has A Sense Of Humor, Maxo returns to announce a new album and North American tour. Debbie’s Son will arrive later this month on September 28th via Maxo’s own SMILEFORME label. Coinciding with the announcement, the Southern California born-and-raised artist shares a preview of the forthcoming album with the release of “PlayDis!” featuring Detroit’s own Zelooperz. The single arrives with a visual directed by Cleon Arrey & Max Allen and shot in Detroit and Los Angeles. Additionally, Maxo shares that starting November 11th, he will embark on his North American tour, “A Friend Of Mine,” featuring guest performer Sideshow with stops in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Montreal, Portland, San Francisco and more. Tickets will be available for purchase via https://tinyurl.com/maxotour this Friday, September 15th.
Debbie’s Son features production from lastnamedavid, The Alchemist, Henry Was, Beat Butcha, Alexander Spit, Ahwlee, and more with Zelooperz as the sole featured vocalist. The new album finds Maxo continuing down the path of exploration that initially began to manifest during the creation process of Even God Has A Sense Of Humor. After taking more than 4 years between the releases of his debut Lil Big Man and his aforementioned sophomore album, Maxo is harnessing a liberating new burst of creativity, urgency, and spontaneity with Debbie’s Son.
Maxo’s "A Friend of Mine" tour will see him trek across North America following his performance at this year's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles in November and ending back in LA with a hometown show on December 15th.
See the full routing below and stay tuned for more from Debbie’s Son, soon.
