(June 30, 2023) - Arriving on the heels of sold out headline shows in London, New York City, Chicago and Toronto, Vancouver's Haley Blais announces her sophomore full-length Wisecrack. The 11-track album will include the 2022 singles "Coolest fucking bitch in town" and "Survivor's Guilt" along with the recently shared track "Matchmaker" and the brand new single "Baby Teeth," which arrives today. Coupled with "Baby Teeth" is a video directed by Vancouver VFX artist Shea Oracheski, portraying Haley in a series of environments that both form and dissolve around her as if she's conjuring them from memory.

Speaking about the song, Haley states, "This song kind of came out of me without thinking and I had to sit with it a bit to understand what it really means to me. It’s a bunch of snippets of my life, of seemingly insignificant moments that made me who I am today, I think. The chorus is about me not wanting to face growing older, wanting to physically regress into the comforts of my inner child. Anytime I listen or play this song, I can smell the basement of my childhood home, or my best friend’s cigarettes (she quit now), and I can see myself, talking to myself in the mirror, doing my best Late Night show wisecracks. I come to terms with it all: 'When I die I know I won’t freak out.'"

Starting July 9th, Haley will begin the West Coast leg of her summer tour with stops in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles. This September and October, Haley will hit the road to support Tommy Lefroy for 8 shows including stops in Boston, New York City, Toronto, Philadelphia and Chicago. Additionally, in November, Haley will head to France to perform at Pitchfork Paris. Full tour routing listed below and ticket information HERE.

Haley's forthcoming sophomore effort Wisecrack is concerned with conscience, morality, and the superego. It’s “bleak but true,” as Haley puts it. Am I a good person or not? Are we all doing okay? Am I a good daughter? Sister? Partner? Friend?” Haley's new album is more mature, confessional, focused, and darker than anything she has yet produced. The existential, everyday worries we all contain but rarely share are laid bare across 12 songs exquisitely performed with profundity, grace, and humor. All of Wisecrack is textured and wryly poetic, somewhere between childhood memory and the creation of a new self.

About a decade ago, Haley started developing a community and fanbase as a teenager with her diaristic YouTube videos and tender ukulele covers. Since then, Haley, who sang classical opera for ten years, traded in the solo ukulele for a guitar and a five-piece band. In 2020, she released a debut full-length album of jangly pop anthems, Below the Salt, produced with indie staples Tennis and Louise Burns, featuring the vocally powerful, complex slow-burn favorite “Be Your Own Muse.” Below the Salt amassed millions of streams and avid support from publications like NPR, NYLON, and i-D and led to a North American tour with Peach Pit. Most recently, Haley signed to iconic indie label Arts & Crafts for the release of her sophomore album.
