London based singer-songwriter I Am Boleyn fuses dreamy vocals and hypnotic melodies on new track ‘Breathless’ out this March through Aztec Records. A brave, imaginative rework of The Corrs’ classic, I Am Boleyn tweaks the original’s pop-rock sound, delivering a lush, synth driven update in her own fresh inimitable style.
She says: “The Corrs are one of the bands I remember most from my childhood - their beautiful harmonies and infections pop songs bring up very happy memories! I really enjoyed recording this synth pop version of their classic ‘Breathless’. What a chorus! I wanted to keep the energy of the original by using saxophone on that riff. It’s the perfect cheeky love song and I hope we’ve kept that charm.’
Dubbed V Magazines ‘New Favourite Artist’ I Am Boleyn spends her time shuttling between London and Stockholm, working with Swedish based music production collective FMLY STHLM and Johannes Willinder. Influenced by Robyn, Annie, Goldfrapp and MS MR, her take on electro-pop brims with hints of neon lit 80’s Berlin bars with a futuristic twist of Blade Runner.
I Am Boleyn went to Oxford University to study history and has been writing songs since she was young.
After the release of her first single ‘Too Much’ she played sold out ‘Dazzling’ (Daily Mail) shows at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles, Laylow in London and Art Basel Miami.
The F9 remix of ‘Too Much’ charted at number 12 in the UK Club Charts in December 2019. In January 2020 her music video for her single ‘Limit of Love’ was shortlisted for the London Music Video Festival.
She performed her single ‘Another Me’ for the digital concert #ivoted festival on November 3rd for the US elections and ‘Another Me’ was added to Spotify’s Editorial Playlist ‘Retro Wave/Outrun.’ Her EP ‘Paris to Berlin’ featuring ‘Paris to Berlin’ has over 1 million streams.
Signing with Aztec Records in September 2022, she has released the first two singles ‘Girl Like Me’ and ‘Tiny Love’ from her upcoming album ‘Lost in Space’ (coming out Summer 2023). With over 1.8 million streams on Spotify and 150k views on Youtube I Am Boleyn’s momentum looks set to launch her into the SynthPop stratosphere.
‘Breathless’ was produced by Johannes Willinder and continues the themes that are shaping up I Am Boleyn’s long awaited album ‘Lost In Space’, coming in summer 2023.
