"'Top 10 Movie Scenes' finds the band slowing down for a more expansive effort, crafting a widescreen offering traced with fuzzy indie rock textures [...] The track’s soaring climax feels perfect for a coming-of-age movie, capturing an emotive high in brilliant instrumental color.
Under the Radar

"Slow Fiction handles often tough stuff with a little light touch, placing emotions atop a solid layer of groove to ensure listeners are moved in both the emotional and physical sense, and hit right in the feels while they can’t help but move their feet."
Bands Do BK

"What sets 'Top 10 Movie Scenes' apart from just being a throwback song is the vocals of Julia Vassallo. Her vocals are far more pop and smooth sounding than anything from twenty years ago [...] This is a truly unique sound that you're going to want to jump on today before they become huge."
If It's Too Loud

"Slow Fiction are bringing garage rock energy back to New York City!"
At the Barrier

"Seeming to have been plucked straight from a Kat Stratford fever dream, the band has a sort of late 90s/early oughts rock tinge with a bit more edge, paired with vocals reminiscent of Dolores O’Riordan. With tracks that are biting, sincere, and still maintain an air of mystery, it’s an exciting introduction for the band."
Alt Citizen

"While punk motivates you to mosh, shoegaze inspires staring at your laces and dream-rock kinda makes you cry (just me?!), this is music that forces you to dance in full on torso-twisting, hip-shaking, limb-flinging form [...] If this is your introduction to Slow Fiction, welcome. It’s Baader-Meinhof meets the Brooklyn music scene."
Bands Do BK

"Slow Fiction try their hands at a quick, fast, expressive single and hit it out of the park. [...] You could feed an AI information on how to program the ideal rock single by using this as a template."
Alt77

"Short and sweet, the 2-minute introduction brings out the warm, dance-rock guitars of The Strokes with bedroom-style vocal production for a charming and nostalgic tune."
Dusty Organ

"The track features that gritty Meet Me In The Bathroom-era grimey New York rock sound with a bit of The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and even some Be Your Own Pet. It’s raw and fun and pure rock and roll."
We All Want Someone to Shout For

Brooklyn's Slow Fiction have gradually gained acclaim and local notoriety after releasing a slew of stellar singles this year (such as double A-side, "The Cut" / "Niagara," and most recently, standalone track, "Nameless Harm"). In turn, the band has been found on bills all over the city, performing alongside acts such as Sports TeamGirl Skin (with whom they toured this spring), Native SunThe Wants (mem. Bodega), Thus LoveDead Tooth, and more, in addition to making an appearance at this year's New Colossus Festival (view the Paste live session).

Now, Slow Fiction is finally ready to unveil a full-length project, their debut self-titled EPSlow Fiction, due February 16, 2023Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, The Drums, Snail Mail, Mannequin Pussy) mixed and mastered the EP.

To introduce the forthcoming project, today, Slow Fiction have shared it's first single, "Top 10 Movie Scenes." As the band wrote of the track: "Writing through a false lens allows you to put yourself in the minds of people you don’t know, and create storylines that don’t exist. The idea behind this track came about during a paranoid delusion… and a melody followed shortly after."

Stay tuned for more from Slow Fiction, coming soon, and listen to "Top 10 Movie Scenes" via all DSPs.
