During their time spent touring in Latin America and Spain, La Femme wrote a song called “Le Jardin” that landed on their 2021 album Paradigmes. “Le Jardin” was the first song the band sang in Spanish, and it led the group down the path toward creating their latest album, Teatro Lucido, their first full-length album sung entirely in Spanish. Describing the thought process behind this shift during a recent interview with Document Journal, band member Sacha Got said “In France, when I was a teenager, like 75 percent of the bands were singing in English. So we began to sing in French. Now, everybody is singing in French… We’re like, Okay, let’s sing in Spanish.”
Teatro Lucido draws from many of La Femme’s inspirations including the famous Semana Santa in Spain; pasodoble, reggaeton, Brasilian, and Andalusian rhythms; classical guitars, and Movida of the 80’s. Teatro Lucido is also the name of a mythic theatre in Mexico where La Femme has performed many times. This is the first in a trilogy of albums from a forthcoming thematic series they have planned called Collection Odyssée. More details on Collection Odyssée to come…
Similar to their previous albums, La Femme wrote, composed, and produced Teatro Lucido themselves, inviting numerous female singers to participate in the process. The album was born through their adventures in Seville, Grenade, Mexico City, Cuautepec, Padul, and more… where they had so many moments of joy, sadness, and disappointment.
La Femme’s music videos have always been a crucial part of their mystique, combining high fashion drama with a campy and playful sense of humor, and the three videos released so far for Teatro Lucido singles “Sacatela”, “Y Tu Te Vas”, and now “No Pasa Nada” are no exceptions.
“No Pasa Nada”, the most recently released single, is sung by Iman Amar from the band Adios Amores. Sacha Got was living at Iman’s place in Grenade, Spain when they created the song together. “No Pasa Nada” features Brazilian rhythms from the 1960s/1970s that brings an easy and sympathetic atmosphere to the song, even though the lyrics are quite dark.
The video for “No Pasa Nada” was directed by La Femme and was shot in the streets of Granada, Spain. The visuals were inspired by one of the band’s nights during the winter of 2018, which ended up with the group blacking out. “It was the kind of night that ends in the morning at 8AM when kids are going to school,” shares Sasha. “That kind of night where you drink to forget, and you end up forgetting what you drank... or you just don't want to remember. And when you wake you're like ‘No problem, nothing happened!’"

“Y tu te vas” was the second single released from the album, led by flamenco inspired guitars and reggaeton-pop beats in the vein of current artists like Rosaliá. “T tu te vas” has received a number of accolades and attention already, selected as today’s top tune by KCRW and spotlighted on playlists across Spotify, Apple, Amazon and Tidal; such as New Music Friday France, Tulum Vibes, New in Indie, and many more.
Speaking to the collaboration with Tatiana Hazel and how this song came together, La Femme frontman Marlon Magnée said “Tatiana is an artist living in Los Angeles where I recorded the track in 2019. ‘Y Tu Te Vas’ is one of the more powerful tracks voice-wise on the album. Tatiana brings the track to another dimension, she really is one of the new artists to follow on the American scene."
The release of “Y tu te vas” followed the release of Teatro Lucido’s lead single “Sacatela” which was paired with a very classy and pastel colored music video shot in Nice, South-West of France. The video for “Sacatela” features many members of the band. The video was directed by french director Ilan Zerrouki and stars many of the members of La Femme. “Sacatela” has been played all summer long on radio stations across the US, Mexico and France and is already a streaming success for the band.
