Fever Queen and her record label, First To Knock, teamed up with Smudge Films (We're All Going to the World's Fair, Strawberry Mansions, I Saw The TV Glow) and director Bridey Elliott (Clara's Ghost) to host a bizarro fairy picnic in the hills in the new "Afterglow" video off her new album In the Ether. Definite Picnic at Hanging Rock vibes by way of lysergic dissociation feature Fever Queen's Eleanor Rose Lee seemingly indoctrinated into a iridescent world populated by Madeleine Zima (Twin Peaks The Return, Californication) and her minions played by comedian Teresa Lee (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Good Mythical Morning) and choreographer Carly Johnson.
Bio:
In the Ether is the second full-length album by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eleanor Rose Lee. This record is ambitious and compositional in a low-key sort of way. Foggy and romantic, each song weaves with the next in a mysterious and ever-shifting nocturnal mood—in turns misty-eyed, intimate, and strange. Hear Eleanor croon the tale of an enigmatic drifter on “Petey”; melt to the acerbic doo-wop drama of “Molding”; feel the aquatic bubblegum vibes of “Maybe to Baby”; drop into the fairy-world pulse of “Afterglow"; find yourself amidst unexpected limelight flourishes on "For Us."
As for the title? Eleanor says: "I named it In the Ether as it seemed a place that exists only in the far off chambers of my imagination and other intangible realms. One of the songs I wrote in my sleep and when I woke up I quickly recorded all I could remember of it, so it felt like a lot of ideas being sent to me from different places in space / time (a full time job!)"
In the Ether is pure magic of the hazy type. Throw this beautiful translucent purple record on your deck and drift into an off-kilter dreamworld.
