dodie returns today to share her first new music of 2022, new single "Got Weird". Written as a way to unpick a sense of false bravado and reconcile her feelings following a “strange date”, "Got Weird" comes complete with an intimate lyric video.

“‘Got Weird’ was written after a strange date. The whole song can probably be described as; I get the ick with myself whenever I date girls. It might be internalized biphobia, it might be from lack of representation growing up (“no one told me, course I stumbled”) - but regardless, ‘Got Weird’ is about a kiss with a girl on a date following a faux confident arrangement (“I played the man, and you bought it”), and how clearly, following that, I really have got some “shit to figure out”,” explains dodie.

"Got Weird" is dodie’s first release since her 2021 debut album Build A Problem, which debuted at number 3 in the Official UK Album Charts and unpacks the flawed, emotionally erratic, wondrously complex conundrum that is being alive. Late 2021 and early 2022 saw dodie tour the UK and North America, with two sold out theatre shows at the Ace Hotels in LA and a sold out Kings Theatre in New York, and the UK leg culminating with a triumphant show at London’s Eventim Apollo.

Further to releasing her debut album, at 27, dodie has already done a lot of living. Some of that has played out online as she made a name for herself as a singer and writer, amassing millions of fans with her disarmingly honest videos and affecting, intimate singing style. dodie has amassed over 1 billion streams to date, with 7 million followers across all platforms, she’s sold out over 100 consecutive shows globally, with performances on Late Night with Seth Myers and Sunday Brunch and has become an ambassador for Depersonalisation charity Unreal
