Stockholm post-punk band V**gra Boys (**=ia for spam) return this week with a full-on old western video for new single “Punk Rock Loser” from their recently announced album Cave World out July 8th via YEAR0001. The video, directed by SNASK features Murphy nonchalantly walking through the wild west amongst tattooed cowboys and barmaids insisting that he’s a “savage” and “really cool” in the most affectless, unconvincing slur he can manage. “I’m loose,” he adds, a word the US-born vocalist has tattooed in Swedish on his forehead. The normally wild band is tamed into a bouncy pulse with only a few strands of frayed guitar squelching through the mix. |
Having just announced a new album and coming off a completely sold-out U.S. Tour which included stand-out performances at Coachella, The V**gra Boys continue to establish themselves as the apex of modern punk. 2021’s Welfare Jazz, which earned rave reviews from the likes of Pitchfork, NPR, GQ, NME, Stereogum, Fader, showed the band's class in production and Murphy's abilities as a writer, but they want more and Cave World is a testament to that. |
The band comes back to the US new US for a Fall 2022 US Co-headline tour with UK band Shame. Kicking off September 29th for two nights at Oakland’s New Parish and wrapping on Halloween in Dallas, the twenty-three date tour will make stops in Denver, Nashville, Brooklyn, New Orleans and so much more (full dates below). The band will then head to the EU for an additional run of dates, making this their largest tour yet. More dates remain to be announced as well. |
