April 6, 2022 – This August, Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno of Best Coast will commemorate the respective 10th and 12th anniversaries of their debut and sophomore albums Crazy for You and The Only Place with back-to-back full album shows over two consecutive nights at Los Angeles’ Ford Theatre.

The duo will kick off the weekend-long celebration with a performance of Crazy for You on Friday, August 12. They will follow up the next night with a deep dive into their second LP, The Only Place. Each show will also feature additional selections from Best Coast’s catalog.

Cosentino remarked, “The Only Place is a special album in our career, and we can’t wait to celebrate its 10-year anniversary in the state that inspired it, California.”

“We feel very fortunate to still be a band 12 years after the release of our first album Crazy for You, and after two years of canceled tours around our latest album, Always Tomorrow, we just decided to throw a party in celebration of the first two seminal albums in our career. There’s been a ton of loss and pain in the world the last few years, and we just hope these shows can bring people, and us, a lot of joy.”

Crazy For You was met with tremendous enthusiasm upon its release. Pitchfork’s Larry Fitzmaurice declared, “The record's overall gorgeousness has a whole lot to do with Cosentino's voice, which hits every pitch with equal clarity and intention of tone.” Martin Robinson of the NME concurred, writing, “Best Coast have shot straight to the top of the pile for two reasons: great songs, and immense charm.”

Two years later, the band released its follow-up long player. Featuring sparkling production by Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann), The Only Place solidified Best Coast’s standing among the indie rock cognoscenti and inspired critical praise for the duo’s captivating brand of smart, hooky, and potent surf-pop.

Simon Vozick-Levinson’s four-star review of the album in Rolling Stone concluded, “Cosentino dramatically steps up her vocal presence on tunes like the tear-in-your-beer ballad ‘No One Like You.’ ‘Do you love me like you used to?’ she wails elsewhere. You bet, Bethany – in fact, we love you even more.”

Writing in Spin, Jon Young observed, “Cosentino seeks to overcome bad times by sharing them with others. When she sings, ‘I want to be a better girl,’ you get the feeling that she’s looking for a way to escape from a very dark place. If great art is its own reward, The Only Place gives her one real reason to be optimistic.”

Tickets for these shows are available to patrons who purchase a subscription package of at least three events for The Ford’s new season.

A special Fan Club Presale will launch on Tuesday, April 12 at 10:00 AM PT and will remain open through Monday, April 18. Single tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, April 19 at 10:00 AM PT.
