Live music hasn’t happened since March 2020 - except for Pinc Louds, who found a way - safely - to bring live music to New Yorkers in 2020, and now into 2021, despite closed music venues.

How so?

By taking their spectacular battery-powered shows to the mythic Tompkins Square Park, a place where any broke teen, wide-eyed toddler and old-school East Villager can enjoy their unique style of “doowop-crooner-punk”, ideally paired with a cold beer from the nearest deli.

On any given Wednesday, Claudi, the band’s non-binary lead singer from Puerto Rico, would play her unforgettable songs with such raw passion that any passerby would end up sticking around for an hour… or three.  On Saturdays, the full band would play - often accompanied by giant rats and subway train puppets. There was no happier place in New York than their pandemic shows.

Pinc Louds is pumping blood back into the New York music scene, bringing a much needed DIY energy, reminiscent of the early 2000’s.

After a cold dark winter, NYC’s favorite imaginary band is back and louder than ever with their new tropical-punk single, 'Tamarindo'. The video is a maniacal explosion of joy filmed in the paradise island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. We see Claudi returning to her homeland where she chases chickens, sings with horses, meets a miniature version of herself and learns the secret to never growing up: tamarind syrup.

The song and video are a colorful exercise in excess. An exhilarating ode to being alive and letting one’s sanity melt away in beautiful turquoise waters. The fun in making this frenzied video is so palpable it'll stick to your fingers like the fruity syrup the song celebrates.

Playfully written in “Spanglish”, 'Tamarindo' draws influence from such bands as Violent Femmes, Los Saicos and Café Tacvba. Trash-can-drums (Rai Mundo), and a fidgety bass line (Marc Monster) are the playground where Claudi’s voice and acoustic guitar bounce wildly to the beat. Pinc Louds’ catchiest song to date is guaranteed to make you smile from head to toe, dance from ear to ear, and quite possibly quit your job and jump into the ocean.

Pinc Louds is currently finishing their self-produced second album, scheduled to be released this summer. The new material brings their tropical influences into full swing, while maintaining the heartbreaking honesty that made subway riders from all walks of life fall in love with them in the first place. More details soon.
