Following the huge success of Oasis’ debut album Definitely Maybe which made the band a cultural phenomenon, their second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? cemented their impact for decades to come. It became the UK’s biggest selling album of the ‘90s, spending a combined total of ten weeks at the top of the Official Albums Chart, and is currently the 5th biggest selling album in UK Album Chart history. Internationally, the album went Top 10 in every major market with a global sales total now in excess of 22 million.
Originally released in 1995, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? will turn 25 on October 2nd. To mark the occasion, the band will be celebrating the anniversary with a week of activity on YouTube Music.
New official HD videos with remastered audio are being uploaded to Oasis' YouTube Music channel for the classic singles “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” “Some Might Say,” and “Roll With It,” plus “Morning Glory” and “Champagne Supernova.” A new range of YouTube exclusive merchandise will also be released as each official HD video is launched, with vintage-style T-shirts replicating the original 1995 designs, featuring single artwork and the classic Oasis “Decca” logo.
In a revealing and insightful exclusive new video interview “Is This Tomorrow?,” Noel Gallagher returns to the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales for the first time since the band recorded the album, looking back at his memories and reflecting on the album’s legacy. On the anniversary, October 2nd, YouTube Premiere will host an Official Album Playback and Singalong event - including the HD videos with remastered audio, which commences at 6PM GMT. Fans will be invited to join the celebration and recreate October 1995 at home, sharing their pictures and videos using #SomeMightSing and #MorningGlory25, with contributions being shared via Oasis’ social media channels.
Oasis will also release limited edition 25th anniversary vinyl formats of (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? on October 2nd. These include a double heavyweight LP picture disc with remastered audio, with album bundles including a print of Noel’s handwritten lyrics for “Wonderwall” and a replica of the band’s 1995 tour T-shirt. The (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? anniversary continues the longstanding relationship between YouTube Music and Oasis, in which the platform has been instrumental in helping a new generation of fans discover the band. These celebrations will see the Oasis YouTube channel exceed 2.4 million subscribers, with total views set to pass the 2 billion landmark. Two versions of the “Wonderwall” video have accumulated over 650 million views.
