World-renowned Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela recorded an incredible Tiny Desk (Home) Concert that is streaming now on NPR Music. “Rodrigo y Gabriela travel the globe playing to crowds who are captivated by their almost telepathic acoustic guitar interplay,” writes NPR. “For this performance we get a peek at their home studio… Rodrigo y Gabriela's picking and strumming feel more relaxed than usual but maintains their intense focus.” The four-song setlist features some of the band’s most beloved songs across their career - “Tamacun” and “Diablo Rojo” from their 2006 self-titled album, “Hanuman,” off 2009’s 11:11 LP, and “Mettavolution,” the title track of their 2019 Grammy Award-winning record. Longtime fans will remember Rodrigo y Gabriela performed “Hanuman” on one of the very first Tiny Desk concerts back in 2009. Watch their new Tiny Desk (Home) Concert HERE.
Rodrigo y Gabriela also just launched a new YouTube playlist, Lumbini Sessions, to house the many live performances from their Ixtapa, Mexico studio they’ve been sharing with fans during quarantine. The playlist features the duo performing originals from across their catalog as well as inventive covers including Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” and Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven.” Lumbini Sessions is being updated with new content regularly, and the band is interacting with their fans daily via Instagram (@rodrigoygabriela), sharing book recommendations, hosting Q&As, and holding contests to win a personal WhatsApp phone call from them.

Three years in the making, Mettavolution brings together Rodrigo y Gabriela’s passionate interest in Buddhism, the history of human evolution and the liberation of the potential we have as a species; all expressed through the medium of two acoustic guitars. The album features six original tracks and an incredible 19-minute cover of Pink Floyd’s “Echoes” and was recorded with Grammy-winning producer Dave Sardy (Oasis, LCD Soundsystem). It debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart upon its 2019 release, also arriving at #2 on Rock Albums and #10 on Top Album Sales. The record received praise from NPR, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and more, and the duo performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and BBC’s The One Show before their triumphant Grammy win in February.
