London-born, Brighton-raised singer/songwriter Grace Carter shares her powerful new single “Heal Me” listen HERE. The track has been released as Carter was just confirmed to perform in Austin, TX at the forthcoming South By Southwest Festival in March, followed by a UK/European headlining tour. Grace was also recently included in BBC’s notable Sound of 2019, and was tipped by the likes of MTV, YouTube Music, Amazon and Ticketmaster in their coveted ones-to-watch lists.
As with all of Grace’s songs, “Heal Me” strikes the listener to the core. The song’s premise is about feeling the pain of rejection and abandonment but not letting it hold you back; something Grace felt as a child, being raised solely by her mother as her relationship with her absent father grew more distant. Grace sees her music as the letters she never got to write and everything she wanted to say but never could, until now. “Heal Me,” follows her most recent single, ‘Why Her Not Me’, showcasing both her expressive vocals and confessional lyrics.
Why Her Not Me, the 7-track EP is also available now; in addition to the title track it features “Half of You,” an honest and touching song about feeling incomplete; “Saving Grace,” dedicated to the women in her life; the Mike Dean (Kanye West, Beyoncé) produced “Ashes,” and the heart wrenching piano ballad “Silhouette.” Check out the videos for "Saving Grace" "Silhouette" and "Why Her Not Me". Carter continues to build an impressive touring resume, headlining shows in the UK and Europe, and previously supporting the likes of Haim, Dua Lipa, Jorja Smith, Mabel, Dermot Kennedy and Rag N Bone.
Grace grew up in Brighton listening to the likes of Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, whose influence are evident in her powerful songwriting, showcasing her musical maturity. She began writing songs during her school days, and at the age of fourteen was already performing her own material in public. One year later, Grace had converted her bedroom into a makeshift recording studio, and when she reached music college she taught herself the piano by watching YouTube videos.
Armed with an unforgettable voice and beautifully crafted songs, Grace Carter is poised for a breakout year ahead.
