Praise for Twerp Verse:
“Twerp Verse” is the band’s most accessible offering yet, with a slight pop gloss on top of the deadpan, grungy indie rock that defined their previous two albums.” - The New York Times
“[Twerp Verse] shows Speedy Ortiz at its most pointed and fearless.” - NPR Music
“Speedy Ortiz’s third album is wry, acerbic, and full of hidden hooks. The songwriting of singer-guitarist Sadie Dupuis has hit a new peak of clarity...the right album at the right time” - Pitchfork
“damn fantastic" - PopMatters (9/10)
“The revamped and emboldened Twerp Verse is another strong step forward for one of the best young rock bands working today.” - Stereogum
“The new record, Twerp Verse, is dark and full of panic and anxiety, but it never loses sight of Dupuis’s golden ear for an offbeat but gratifying melody” - New York Magazine’s Vulture
Speedy Ortiz is wrapping up a massive year that saw the band release their critically acclaimed third album Twerp Verse, and go on extensive tours including headline dates and support tours with the likes of Liz Phair, The Breeders, Against Me!, as well as an opening slot at Fenway Park with The Foo Fighters. Additionally, front person Sadie Dupuis released her first full-length collection of poetry entitled Mouthguard this Fall. Before the band ends the year with a few more tour dates starting tonight, Speedy Ortiz shares a new music video, an animated, claymation portrayal of “I’m Blessed.” “I was given an incredible amount of freedom and trust when making the music video for ‘I'm Blessed.’ The song already had so much creative imagery and Sadie, herself, was a great inspiration,” explains animator Hannah Darrah. “I hope viewers are able to appreciate the idea that we have the ability to summon different aspects of ourselves and we have the power to use those traits to save us from our own snakes and coyotes.” Watch it and read Sadie’s interview with Noisey HERE and get your tickets to upcoming Speedy Ortiz shows HERE.
Speedy Ortiz is: Sadie Dupuis (guitar, vox, synths), Andy Molholt (guitar), Darl Ferm (bass) and Mike Falcone (drums)
